She seriously needs to go see the doctor. While all of the answers are good ones, she'll never know what causes it or what to do for it until she does. She could have a case of urgent bladder disorder for which there is medication; or it could be something worse and she needs to find out what it is before it gets worse than it is. GO. She needs to have some peace of mind over this.

Kidney or urinary tract infections or other problems with the genitourinary system. Also, the poss of stress or fear, in the case of bullying etc. You don't say male or female; as our bodies differ the problem could be functional (something blocking the bladder duct and therefore making it hard to "hold it" because it feels like it's bursting) or organic: an infection, or poss an irritation like cystitis. Cystitis has many causes, from stress to tight pants to wearing synthetic underwear. It can be a chronic irritation or linked to an infection.
They could also have a fistula, which can only be repaired surgically.
They need to see a urologist pronto.

There is such a thing as "Stress Incontinence" - which has nothing to do with mental stress, but physical stress on the bladder. If the incontinence happens when you laugh or sneeze, it very well could be stress incontinence. Weight is a major factor in this... as could be underlying medical conditions.

A kidney or bladder infection currently or in the past can cause that. Also, women should do kegel exercises to keep the muscles down there stronger which can help with incontinence as well.

Could be down to stress, or too much alcohol. Get it checked out by a doctor if neither of the above apply.

I don't know but please go to your doctor, it is the only way to really find out what is going on. I know it's embarressing but doctors have seen / heard it all before, you should get this checked out.
