i have had diabetic test and everything ok. i have been on anti depressants for 4 yrs because of a very serious epedemic of OCD and was in hospital for 4mnths in 2002 so i am not fully recovered of it so on anti depressants for that and i have been on iron tablets since few wks now for low ferrotine in blood and been told of low white cells (low immunity) and i think the cause is all these tablets killing my natural immune system and making it go haywire.

You need more sleep.

Although, no matter how many hours of sleep I get, I still feel pretty tired throughout the day.

Your symptoms are impossible to diagnose online. You really should see your physician, as fatigue is a symptom, and not a condition.

It could be the meds that you're taking to cancer. It's impossible to say on here (although it's more likely a side effect from one of your meds... Wasn't trying to scare you).

Let your doctor do a CBC when you go in, and make sure you tell them how you are feeling. From my experience, it sounds like your antidepressants aren't the right ones for you, but only your doctor can tell you for sure.

Good luck.

**EDIT**

I just saw that someone at the bottom of this page told you to quit taking your meds. I cannot emphasize enough the dangers of doing this. If you're taking an SSRI for OCD (Zoloft and Paxil are usually the drugs of choice to treat OCD), or ANY antidepressant, for that matter, DO NOT stop without a doctor's supervision and recommendations. Halting treatment suddenly can cause more problems that what you are already having.

If you've had those multiple tests done, I would lean more towards the fact that it's your meds acting up. People with OCD are prone to panic attacks, and if your doctor put you on something like Zanax (alprozolam), Klonapin, or Lorazopam, those meds could be the reason that you're tired.

Additionally, if those meds are keeping you from sleeping a full eight hours a night, that could be making you utterly exhausted, too. Antidepressants have been known to cause insomnia in some people.

Go to the store, and pick up a PDR (Physician's Desk Reference). This book will list all drugs and all of their side effects from the most common (which is on the sheet that they gave you at the pharmacy) to the most rare side effect that has been associated with the drugs that you have been taking. Legally, any drug that has been approved by the FDA needs to have ALL side effects listed.

Once you've looked into those side effects, make a list of the ones that are troubling you. If there is not an organic cause that your doctor can find for your fatigue, the medications are the only place the doctor will have left to turn, and hopefully he or she will adjust them accordingly so that you can return to your normal life.

See your doctor right away, DO NOT diagnose on line, there could be a number of reasons as suggested: low iron, diabetes, thyroid, etc. Your anti depressants will play apart in that also. Let your doctor prescribe the type of vitamins for you.

My 1st thought was diet tho, to many carbs such as breads/pasta/rice/potatoes/sugars etc. All these things will turn to sugar in your system & make you very tired. Also excersise, will help a great deal. While you are waiting for your appointment, keep a detailed journal to show your doctor, start cutting carbs out of your diet, not completely just not as often. Eat more fruits/vegatables/nuts (raw).

You really need to go back to your GP and explain how you truly are feeling day by day. If possible keep a diary for a week or two of how you are feeling, time to bed, exercise taken, foods consumed, medication etc. That will give him a complete picture of what is happening. He may arrange blood tests and further investigation but you do need to get to the bottom of this. It may be that your medication needs to been changed - there are just so many factors to take into consideration and here is not the best place to have a diagnosis - your GP is the one. Good Luck and hope it gets resolved soon.

I used to struggle with the same thing. The doctor said I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, because of the Epstien-Barr Virus. I went to a natural medicine doctor and she suggested I start taking vitamins, but most importantly, I started taking vitamin B complex. This vitamin has totally changed my life, and it was within weeks that I could see the full benefits.

Take 1-2 tablets 2-3 times per day to start. They should not be taken past 3 or 4 in the afternoon, because they may interfere with your sleep. You may feel better within an hour of taking them, but it may take a few weeks to saturate your body to feel that good of an effect.

You won't be jittery, or feel anything other than yourself with enough energy.

Another thing to do is make sure you get at least 64 ounces of water per day. If it is hard at first, just force yourself. You may feel a lot better with just 2 or 3 glasses when you really feel tired.

Get off of those pills, eat right, and get some exercise. Get a thorough check up.

I can't believe kids so young are already loaded on junk like that. Low Iron, do you eat meat? Red meat? There are berries that have iron etc...iron constipates you...let's not even GO at the multitude of side effects of anti depressants.

I sure hope you are not on ADD drugs as if you are misdiagnozed they can do you a lot of harm. Try getting off them. Discuss it with your doctor.

Medicine is a business in the US...no medicine...no doc making money...so do some research and look after yourself in a healthy way.

Read up on the side effects of medication you are taking and you will know if that is why you might be feeling that way. Once you are messed up on pills there might not be a way to undo it. So try vitamins, a good diet, exercise, good sleep, and positive thoughts. Good luck.

Drink lots of water, forget the caffeine...it will cause your heart to palpitate and beat much faster...causing it to wear out way faster...kids don't realize the pop companies are trying to get them to drink that garbage now that people have cut out sugar drinks.

You will be really tired if you are low on iron (anaemic) and if you are depressed you will feel tired all the time too.
Exercise is a good way of lifting the spirits, but is hard to get motivated if you are tired.
You could try taking Co Enzym Q10 as long as it doesn't react with anything else you're taking. It helps to give you energy for longer. Hope you feel better soon (:

My friend suffered from low iron-blood content and she was exactly the same. How long have you been on the tablets for? If they're not taking affect, I'd go see your doctor again.
Oh, and whoever suggested drinking loads of coffee, don't do it! If anything, drink loads of water. Chronic mild dehydration can also be a cause of exhaustion.

It's so obvious you have an iron deficiency. Usually pregnant women get it as the baby drains the iron out of them. That is why the mother is constantly feeling exhausted and not getting enough sleep.

You must get a blood test to confirm your lack of iron. The doctor will possibly tell you that you're 'Anaemia'. He/she will also ask about your diet and what foods you should eat and avoid.

I hope this helps!

Have you been coughing, or has your throat been hurting? It could be mono. Or you said you are on anti-depressants. A lot of those types of medications have side effects including tiredness. But depression in general effects your physical habits and leads you to be tired more often. Go see a doctor, good luck.

I had the same problem, with out drugs "med". What I did to over come it was:
1. Relax,relax,relax----stimulate the mind, look at wonderful pictures, thoughts.-mountains,moon,ocean,birds, etc. Just try to get your mind of things.
2. -you said you sleep a lot- I the same did that 12-15 hours straight. NO MORE. Now I sleep like 8-10 hours. At times I'll stay up 24 hours straight. It really helps "TEA, TEA,Tea" drink lots of it green, raspberry, black, etc no caffine....... It will relax you.
3. I don't know if you walk or not You should do some kind of activity, it help ++++++++.......
4. Try to eat vegetables a lot of it and fruits. NO junk food. Try not to eat with in hour before sleep.

That's what i did to over beat that odd feeling of still being tired, lazy, postponing, etc. I have to stay strong, say you can do it, up that spirit up up up.......

If that don't work, and taking those pills *while doing the above*, then its not you, or being lazy-those duped-up drugs your doc. are giving you. Just like, do what you can or I don't know, stop taking them if you feel cool......

Hope I helped........Good luck....
