Why don't you give the dog to someone who will take care of it and knows what they're doing ?

No way! if you already did, you need to get it to a vet ASAP!!! Human drugs should never be given to an animal, or vice versa. It has a different mechanism of action in animals and can be fatal. Why do you think he needs Darvocet? If he is in pain he needs an exam where the vet can then give him the proper pain control designed for dogs, such as Rimadyl (Carprofen) or Deramaxx. Both are anti-inflammatory pain meds, but you really need to learn about the difference in animal drugs and human drugs and always call a vet before you do anything like this.

Most of the answer's did not hit the biggest head on this question. An active ingredient in Darvocet is Tylenol!!! Don't do it!

WHY do people always want give thier pets human medicine. Darvocet is a very strong, habit forming, painkiller. ASK YOUR VET IF SOMETING IS WRONG WITH THE ANIMAL.

No. Why would you want to? If your dog is in pain there are doggie pain pills for pain management if the dog is treated and still has pain. Take your dog to a Vet and let him be treated there. Ask your Vet about any human meds you have and might consider giving to a dog because many are toxic to animals.

I would not suggest it. Human drugs do not work well on animals because the amount of medicine that humans and dogs can handle is very different. Dogs livers cannot handle the same kind of medicine that we take and the effect could be fatal.

Never give a dog a human pain-killer. These can be deadly. A vet can prescribe something specifically for your dog...:-)

I would not reccomend it. Have the dog checked by a vet and let the vet decide what dosage of what ever is prescribed.

Why would you? An animals diet and internal chemistry is way different than ours. You have no way to know what reaction your pet will ahve to the medication or what that reaction would even look like.

this drug is in a class called a 'narcotic analgesic' and a human medication. not something to give your pet. if you need some pain relief for the animal ring the vet.
do not give this to the animal, this will more than likely kill your pet or induce non-irreversible liver failure!!!!!!!!!!
