There are differing interpretations of exactly what a sin is. It seems that when King James version was translated the phrase to miss the opportunity, as in you had the opportunity to do what is right, but didn't do it. The word sin is an archers term meaning to miss the mark. The word has been corrupted to mean doing something that is bad, Since good and bad are both points of view, the word is misused. Jesus died to complete His mission, that mission was to fulfill the prophecies and close out the old laws, The ten commandments. Then to bring in the new commandment, the 11th commandment. Jesus was an incarnation of an aspect of that which is all. Actually since he simply resurrected his body he is still as he was when he was resurrected. There are no others to follow him, his message was the last words needed to understand the truth of creation. Islam though claiming to be of god, if you read the words of the Koran you will see that it is more of the rantings of a person with demonic possession.

No. Jesus didn't die for your felony, He died to save you from the blackness of your heart. It matters not the sin, all that matters is the condition of your heart. A person guilty of having evil thoughts is just as guilty as the murderer.

Yes, it is true. Murder is both a felony and a sin. But then, we are all sinners. Jesus tells us if we have broken just one of the commandments we are guilty of breaking them all, murder included. I have never killed anyone but in terms of my guilt or innocence before God, I am just as guilty as any of history's worst murderer's.
A good passage from the Bible to look at on this topic is 1 Corinthians 6 which states:
9 Do you not know that sinful men will have no place in the holy nation of God? Do not be fooled. A person who does sex sins, or who worships false gods, or who is not faithful in marriage, or men who act like women, or people who do sex sins with their own sex, will have no place in the holy nation of God. 10 Also those who steal, or those who always want to get more of everything, or who get drunk, or who say bad things about others, or take things that are not theirs, will have no place in the holy nation of God.
While the particular sin of murder is not mentioned here, it is clear from this passage that many of us would be in trouble. Fortunately, the passage does not end here, for it goes on to say...
11 Some of you were like that. But now your sins are washed away. You were set apart for God-like living to do His work. You were made right with God through our Lord Jesus Christ by the Spirit of our God.
The bad news is that we all are born sinners and that we all have sinned, whether we have committed murder or not, we all are guilty of having broken ALL the commandments. The good news, from verse 11, is that we do not have to remain guilty. When you accept Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour your sins, ALL of your sins (murder included), are "washed away" so that one day you can stand guiltless before a Holy God.

Jesus died for ALL of our sins -- felony, legal, whatever. Nowhere in the Bible does it state Jesus died for your "felony."

That's exactly who Jesus died for. The saint and the sinner. God is not a respector of persons. That is one of the reasons I love him so.
