In asking this question I was merely hoping for different viewpoints on the statement itself, it does not reflect that I personally hold that point of view, on the contrary, for my part, I disagree with the statement. Again, I just wanted to see people's different perspectives.

I highly disagree w this statement. Prayer is perhaps the most powerful tool for a christian. Now, as some have stated, not all, or maybe even any have been answered. There are two possible reasons for this.
1. They didn't have faith that what they were praying for would come true. Rather they were praying to test god to see if he would do it, and base their faith off of that. The bible very clearly states do not test the lord thy god.
2. They were praying against God's will. We should always be praying for God's will to be done. After all, does he not know more than we, can he not see where our lives are leading much better than we can. This is especially true if you're talking about a freind or, an acquaintance. While it is good to pray for them, keep in mind that God may have a bigger plan in mind, so rather pray that God's will be done.

Dear Redcoat15,

Seems you have made two statements. Then you have asked one question? to which the answer to your first statement is, to pray is not to waste time, it is some of the best time spent, what can beat talking with God, some times people do not have the answers, though it is good to talk with people, no man is an island. Your second statement, nothing good comes from prayer, Redcoat15, I believe if you go back in history the history of your family someone prayed for you without doubt I believe that. Now to answer your question: NO.

NO, I don't. There is power in prayer and if you have never had the chance to experience it first hand then you can never understand. People pray for the wrong reasons, they pray for a car, and stereos and all kinds of worldly things. When you go to god in prayer you in it with a right heart and you go into it for the right purposes. God tells us in the bible to pray without ceasing. Good things do come from prayer. Even in this wicked world in which we live.

No. If it was a waste of time then why would people do it? God has created us and why should we not pray for him and ask him for help? Not only help in this life, but to be protected from hell in the next. To some people it may not seem worth it to pray, as this life isn't exactly perfect, but soon everyone will see why praying is worth it in the end.

I disagree. That sentence is from a non-believer or someone who didn't get what they wanted (something trivial) from a prayer.

Never underestimate the power of prayer. Things do happen and I'm not talking about promotions for money either.

Prayer is not a waste of time, but you must keep in mind that regardless of which god, or for that matter which stuffed animal you choose to pray to, the results will always be the same. This fact would lead one to believe that prayer has more to do with our abilities as humans to project our desires where they are needed then it has to do with any god.

I think that prayer can cultivate humility, and give us a perspective on things.

Constantly asking for things from the Lord is pointless.

Thats how i feel

Yes. However, crazy coincidences can be mistaken for the coming true of prayers. Like if you pray to come into some money and later you get a promotion, it's not like God told your boss to give said promotion to you, you're probably just a good worker, or he's short-handed.

No prayer I've ever uttered has been answered, and I've only ever prayed for others, it's what caused me to finalise my loss of faith.

prayer is NOT a waste of time. and if god talks to you that doesnt mean you are a schitzo!!!!!!!! prayeris a way to talk to god. and he does answer prayers. he may not talk directly to you but he does answer them..
