Christianity is about a relationship with Christ. The idea that Christians have a pass to be evil because they can ask for forgiveness is absurd. Yes, Christians just like everybody else are not perfect, and some Christians have done some very terrible things. However, the forgiveness that is offered to me is the same forgiveness that is offered to you. I believe that so many people choose Christianity because the message is simple and the price has already been paid for you.

In my Christian faith repentance isn't so simple or easy.
You can't just say you're sorry, you have to FEEL sorry, and sometimes that feeling is so heavy and painful it would be easier to give up, but you have to go through it, or the repentance doesn't really change you - and that's the point - to come out in the end as a changed person - the sort of person that has little to no desire to do that again. You also have to set things right with those you might have hurt as much as you possibly can.

I'm afraid it not quite that easy.
If we approach things from a legalistic standpoint then everybody could just say, "Hey as longs as I say, 'I'm Sorry' then every thing is ok". But God goes alot deeper than that. He looks at our intentions and motives. He doesn't just take lip service. Lots of people say things they don't really mean. And that translates to every level we live on.
This subject can be communicated when we talk about saying we are sorry or even when it comes to accepting Jesus into your life. The Apostle Paul writes in Romans Chap10 v.9 "If you use your mouth to say, "Jesus is Lord," and if you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you will be saved."
I know alot of folks who have said it just to get somebody off their back and leave them alone. There have been folks who have said they are sorry and don't really mean it.
To try and answer the 2nd half of your question, "who do some many people choose Christianity?" I can only answer with why I chose Jesus Christ. I did not choose it because i thought this way of thinking or looking at things fit me best. I chose it because what I believe Jesus Christ did for me on a cross nearly 2000 years ago. God knew we needed salvation and that we couldn't do it for ourselves. We are all sinners (Romans 3.23) and we need to be saved from our sin. Jesus Christ came here to die for our sins (something had to be done to make up for our sins). He also rose from the dead to new life so that we also can have new life and leave our sins behind.
Romans is a good book to read if you want to hear about sin, law, grace and freedom in Christ.

You are absolutely right for any free-will, works-based religion. However, if God is the one that chooses, we don't have that problem. He gives us a new heart, a new life, that does not want to do evil, and that's something we could never do ourselves. Call it choice and God is just a menu item, gain salvation, get baptized, do evil, say you're sorry, and the cycle starts again.

It doesn't work that way. You have to truly repent for your sins and turn your life around. Not just say you are sorry. There is no get out of Hell card free. People who believe there is will be sadly mistaken. On that note, most religions have the golden rule to some extent-Treat others as you wish to be treated yourself. That pretty much sums up all of the commandments, unless you are a masochist!

No,
1) You need to honestly repent and work at not doing whatever you did again.
2) your heart has to be for God if you claim to be of his people.
3) some people who think they are for God will still go to hell.
When done right, you cant be evil and be a christian, if you are, your a liar.

Not really, if you get saved, you are regenerated, which means, Jesus makes you more like him every day, its gets harder and harder to want to do really evil things. So at first its easy and then you ask for forgiveness, but as the years roll by, the need to be a mean, idiot looking christian (unless you were never saved in the first place) disappears.

Christen faith does say that no matter what you do, you will be forgien. However, that doesnt mean that you go to heaven. Everyone but the saints go to Purgatory, sort of like a waiting room where you wait until the end of time, Judgement Day. Thats when God decides if you go to Heaven or Hell. So no, Christens dont have it made. No matter what you do, you will always go to Purgatory and wait until the end of time.

James 5 can explain it.
Even Paul, who wrote half of the New Testament, was afraid that he wasn't doing enough or was even doing the wrong thing. No Christian has it made if they're just sitting on their hands, instead of going about the Father's work!

You can not be evil and do wrong on purpose and be able to say sorry and go to heaven you have to be true to god and do the Right things. but there is sin sometimes you sin without knowing it. that is why Jesus was given to us for sin and remorse. not so we Can do what we want and just say sorry. but believing in Jesus yes i have it made.
