my upstairs neighbours are constantly playing loud, thumping music and it gets really annoying. the logical thing to do would be to ask them to stop or to complain, but after telling my idiot friend about the problem, he convinced me that we should vandalize their door. i know, it was retarded and i dont need to know that from you. im afirad now that if i talk to them, theyll kick my ***. srsly, what do i do?

As you expected, vandalising the door was really dumb, but that still doesn't justify them continuing with their annoying behaviour.
I think you need to ask whoever the authorities are, to have a word with them.
In my case, I called my neighbours at 12:30 in the night when I woke up from their music, and asked them very politely to at least turned down the volume. They were actually surprised that they were making noise, and asked me what noise? (I wanted to tell them that I can even hear the bed creak when they ****!!)
Anyway they didn't comply with my request.
I then called the landlord and told him I would keep calling him irrespective of what time it was, unless he did something about it.
He probably said something to them and even though the lady upstairs gives me a look everytime she sees me, they have been very quiet for sometime now.

If they have the music on after 10pm call the police-other than that there really not much you can do. Look at your lease and see if there is a clause that addresses this. If there is go to the landlord. Wish I had more for you.

I would tell your landlord, and let them handle it.. if they dont then keep complaining... vandalizing the door is really dumb, It may give them just cause to tell on you... and you more then likely get kicked out.

we had the same problem when we lived in apartments we talked to him and five minutes after we left the music went right back up after that we decided to call the police after they police visiting him twice we found out that if he did it again he would be fined and since he had bench warrants out on him he never did it again while we lived there just a thought
