It's because people are not taught real history in school. It's been 3 3/4 years since the start of the fighting. The U.S. fought Germany and Japan starting in 1942. The fighting and rebuilding process took a total of 12 years. That's nine years after the fighting began. For Germany that was only half a country becayse the Soviet Union controled the second half. That led to the Cold War which lasted about 40 years. The U.S. is still fighting the Koreans War (no peace treaty and shots from both sides have still been fired) and the U.S. is still in the former Yugoslavia too. The Federal government still didn't have a handle on the South 100 years after the fighting (lots of lynchings and church bombings, even in the mid 60s) from the Civil War. 3 3/4 years is only a long time with somebody with ADD.

The current administration who dodged service to this country, thought they understood military planning better then the experts who have experience in war, our military. CENTCOM told the president it would take 400,000 troops to seal the boarders with Syria and Iran, guard weapons storage facilities, and impose order after Saddam was defeated. Rumsfeld sent in 150,000, Saddam was defeated but there were not enough troops to establish order and chaos took root, Foreigners from other Arab countries began to poor in from the Syrian boarder, and Iraqi weapons storage facilities were looted and now our troops are being blown up with those weapons.
When the US took over the civilian leaders once again did not listen to our generals. Iraq had an army with 1 million men with AK47’s and what would you expect should be done with these men? Exactly, disband the military and send these men home with their guns and no job to occupy their time. These men are now the people that are fighting our military and engaging in sectarian violence. There is many more reasons but these are the major mistakes that were made by Bush.

Probably because the insurgents don't follow any of the rules the Geneva Conventions put in place for war. They don't wear uniforms, they shoot medics, and they use civilians as shields.
When the US wears blatant uniforms that make them stick out like a sore thumb, while the Insurgents blend right in with the rest of the civilians.
The US actually lets them bury their dead and have funerals in peace when 50 of them could easily be taken out.
And the US never uses civilians to block enemy fire.
Does this help?

I think the answer to that dilemma is that America (western democracy/predominantly Christian) did not understand the the Arabic (predominantly Muslim) mind.
Democracy is hard to teach in a country that historically has only been controlled by tyrants. Saddam and Hajib ( I do Not know the correct spelling Sorry)

This is not a conventional war. The terrorist use guerrilla tactics and it's like trying to fight a ghost. It takes a long time to root them out.

The war is over we won! But as far as our problems stabilizing the new Democracy, I think it's because of all those darn Iraqi's? If we could just figure out a way to get them all to simultaneously blow each other up, or move somewhere, it wouldn't be so tuff.

Extremists in the region are creating chaos to prevent any 'zionist' influence in the region and keeping any democracy from forming on their home turf.
