I mean if it takes decades to understand Buddhism, how can you be so certain that Christianity is the ONLY true faith? Especially since it is based on the bible which was written 60 years after the death of Christ.

First of all the Bible was not written 60 years after the death of the Messiah, Bible is a compilation of books (some) written even before the birth of the Messiah Yahshua. Other books were written after His ressurection. Now you will know that the religion or faith you are practicing is the true religion if that particular belief answers correctly without any doubt all the questions that you will ask and others will ask. And if that particular belief is supported by true facts that cannot be disputed. If you want to know more about how I know that my faith is the one true faith, please visit http://yaim.org/ if you have any questions just ask our Elders. Shalom.

Does your faith answer the questions you have about God, or death, or an afterlife? Do the regulations or rules or standards seem correct to you? Do you truly take into consideration the teachings of the religion? Do they figure into every aspect of your daily life? Do the teachings make more sense as you progress in learning, or do things get strange or more difficult? If all these needs are being met for you, then you have the correct religion for you AT THAT TIME. I was raised a Southern Baptist, became wiccan as a young adult, and ended up disallusioned and angry before I found Jehovah's Witnesses. They had the answers I was looking for, and I have been secure in that ever since. 10 years earlier, I would have ( and DID, occasionally) turn Jehovah's Witnesses away from my door. I was not ready to hear what they had to say. As my life changed, and I grew emotionally and intellectually, I was prepared to LISTEN to the answers to the questions I was asking.
So...people change. Your needs and expectations in life change. Your outlook and your views in life change. And should you realize that the religion you are involved with is not answering your needs or questions any longer, or if it confuses rather than soothes and calms you, then it's time to reexamine what you believe in! For where I am right now in my life, Jehovah's Witnesses have the answers for me... and I believe it to be the one true faith. Will I always feel that way? This time, I'm sure I will! I am satisified with what I found. Does this mean I will never learn about other religions, or hear other peoples answers? I hope I NEVER lose the frame of mind that says I need to learn all I can learn about anything I can! Religion included. Just because I learn about something does not mean what I learned will change my mind about what I believe!! :)

There is only one true God. I wish the whole world could understand that fact. If you relate to the Great Spirit it really doesn't matter how or why you got there. Religion is a doorway. Faith is believing without the knowing how and why. Finally, Christianity is not based on the bible. It is based on Jesus Christ, another doorway to the infinite.

For millions, one’s faith is something into which one is born. But for true Christians, faith is something that is acquired and cultivated. For them, faith is not “firm belief in something for which there is no proof,” as one dictionary defines faith. On the contrary, the early Christian evangelist Paul wrote: “Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld.” (Hebrews 11:1) This means that our faith is based on reality.

For example, one approaching God “must believe that he is.” (Hebrews 11:6) Many ridicule the idea that there is a God. ‘Why believe in a God you cannot see?’ they say. Yet the same ones have no trouble believing in television waves that are just as invisible. They, of course, can turn on their television sets and see the results of these invisible waves! Likewise with true Christians, our faith in God is not mere credulity or blind faith. Paul explains about God: “His invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable.” (Romans 1:20) Though God is invisible, all around us there is abundant visible evidence of a Master Designer, a superhuman intellect, a Creator with unmatched power.

Our faith, though, must go beyond mere belief in God if it is really to benefit us. (James 2:19) We must also have faith in the Holy Bible as the Word of God. (John 17:17) This faith should be based, not on mere emotion or early religious training, but on a knowledge of the many features of the Scriptures that point to divine authorship. The Bible itself encourages its readers to “make sure of all things.”—1 Thessalonians 5:21.

How can you do this with regard to the Holy Scriptures? You might first consider the fact that the Bible is a series of writings by some 40 different servants of God. Though writing over a period of 1,600 years, the writers followed a common theme—God’s Kingdom. Never did they contradict one another. Does not this indicate divine authorship? Also, the Bible shows remarkable accuracy in describing such things as the order of the appearance of living things on earth, a fact that is confirmed by modern science. (Genesis, chapter 1) Even more amazing is the fact that the Bible records future events! Some of the writers themselves confessed that they did not understand what they were writing; but what they wrote was truth, for they wrote under divine inspiration!—Daniel 12:8; 2 Peter 1:20, 21.

For many, however, the most persuasive reason to have faith in the Bible is that its counsel works! As you study and apply it, the Bible will exert a powerful motivating force for good in your life. This can help you to make changes that may amaze your friends and acquaintances. No wonder Paul said that “the word of God is alive and exerts power”! (Hebrews 4:12) TRUE FAITH, therefore, HAS A ROCK-SOLID FOUNDATION.

Hmm the Old Testament was before the birth of Christ. The Old Testament is the prediction of the New Testament... the New Testament is the prophecy fulfillment of the Old Testament. Jesus was in the beginning of the Old Testament and throughout each book thereafter.

Now to answer your question: "How do you know if your faith is the one true faith?" God's Word is all I need to stand on my faith, and know it is the ONE true FAITH.

For it states: One God, one faith, one baptism. :o)

Dude, the old testament is also included in the Bible and it was written in Moses's time, come on. The old and New testament are read by christians, you are only talking about part of the book, you need to refer to the rest of the book that the Jews kepted records and kepted track of for centurys.

I think each of us is convinced that our faith is the one true faith because it resonates with what we already believe.
Just as there are many streams that empty into the river which then empties into the sea, we all have our own path. And when we all eventually reach the sea, is it that important which stream we followed to get there?

You don't You simply take comfort in doing what you can to follow the example Christ gave you to follow. Only God knows the "truth". And I suspect it lies within the boundaries of many religions.

Because God's Word contains His Spirit, the Spirit of truth.

Joh 14:22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
Joh 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
