Breaks do work. I am a firm believer that if you're meant to be together you will be. If you take a break and both find that you are having fun dating other people, then the break is probably better off being permanent. Or, if after going out with other people, you still have feelings for your partner...then at least you know that you've tested the waters out there, and know that you've made the right choice!

It can but probably won't. If he has called it a break, he is probably trying to not hurt her feelings any more than he has to. She is doing the right thing. Console your friend and advice her to give him his space. If it was meant to be then he will be back. Who knows...out of sight sometimes means out of mind and she might just get over him sooner than she thinks.

Alot can happen during a break. For example: meeting new people. Meeting new people leads to doing things on a break. So no, breaks are not good. But permanent breaks are.

there is a reason that you broke up in the first place, truthfully a majority of relatioships don't work out after they have broken up. The trust is gone and you start fighting over stupid things

Sounds like it should be over anyway.
She should "make it so", and move on.
You don't know any nice guys she could date?
