So you were that skinny little sod with the big mouth in front of me?
Only joking.....I do think that you make a valid point. It seems strange that airlines class all passengers as being the same weight but put limits on the amount of luggage they're carrying.
I would like to hear the logic behind this .

More weight to aircraft means it uses more fuel. Fuel is expensive - you pay for it. In addition, most passenger airlines carry cargo as well as the passengers baggage. If you are taking up extra space in the hold - then the airline cannot carry the additional cargo that is being paid for. This answers the question why fat people don't pay extra - because they are not sitting in the hold taking space - they are in the cabin!!!

You have to pay for any excess baggage because the airline use another airline to load up excess baggages in case they reach the specified weight in their plane. Just to cover the expenses. That's why sometimes some baggages are mislocated or delayed.

If everyone had overweight luggage the plane would not get off the ground. They know the average weight of passengers which has gone up recently and US average is the highest of all - followed by Brits!!

Most airlines will charge $50 for overweight luggage. Once we had to rearrange our bags to spread out the weight to avoid the charge.
