Usually people take more than the prescribe dosage, they like the way it makes them feel. euphoria is a common side effect and being that most of us like feeling happy without having to work at it, we think a magic pill will make life all better. soon people are taking vicodin or other pills not for pain but for the feelings that it creates and they begin to take them more often and double the dosage. Before long you have a full blown addict. Its sad to say but its not the drugs fault, its usually a weakness in ones personality, and most of us have it, myself included. We just need to remember that this is medicine and must be used exactly as prescribed, no self medicating and the drug will work as intended. I use high doses of opiates and am not addicted, though 13 years ago on vicodin I misused the drug as ended up as others, so I know where they come from. If you fall into this bunch, it isn't the end of the world. It is just a problem that needs to be addressed and corrected early. Especially when dealing with chronic pain.

the first time you take it, one vicodin will be enough. the second time, you need more. the third time you need even more than that to have the same effect as the first time. see?
