Well considering each generation tends to store the genetic mistakes of the previous...going back in time, you can see there were far less genetic mutations than today. There was enough genetic diversity in Noah's family to repopulate. Look at the world around you. Makes me wonder how amazing humanity must have looked before the flood.

Now for Japhet, Noah blessing to Him is that He and His dessendants will share his brother, Shem's blessings and won't have a very difficult life. These are the Asian people with brown complexion, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, etc. those people living in islands. And for Cam whom Noah cursed, He will be the lowest or become poorest and will have difficult life. This can be seen on black people. Noah's sons had wives and children. The children just married their cousins or their siblings. It wasn't uncommon back then. How do you think we started from Adam and Eve. Their children got married.

I think this story was based of the story of the flood of Gilgamesh. Besides, if the world was flooded for 40 days, nothing would have survived except for fish. This means, no plants, and if there are no plants, then no herbavors, which means no carnivors (except those who eat fish) which means most of the animals would be dead

well, when the flood covered the earth, it was the earth as it was known to those who wrote the story. The entire planet didn't go under water, or else there is no way to explain Asians, Africans etc...
Like most Bible tales, they are parochially situated and cautionary at best.
