I just read in the paper that churches are using ATMs to receive donations. The pastor who originated this concept called them "Automatic Tithe Machines." What is the forum's take on this concept?

Yeah, I read that in the Christian Science Monitor. Literally money changers in the church. Kind of funny.

I never heard this before. But, I'll bet the "ATM" pastor was not a Baptist (except National Baptist), Calvary Chapel, Bible Church Movement, Presbyterian, Amish, or Mennonite.

That's kind of stupid, in my opinion.
I think people are focusing too much on money.
Jesus told Peter to go fish and the fish he caught would have "a piece of money" in it and that he would use to pay for the taxes for them both.
I don't think people should worry so much about thithes and offerings.
But, then again, that's my opinion.

Just one more way to get more money out of the gullible. It wouldn't work at Catholic churches - usually ATMs make you take out/transfer at least $20, and Catholics rarely give more than a quarter. :)

I beleive that this is insane. Churches are not a place to worship any more they are a business designed to make a profit
