definitely go to a pro. If you have color build up your hair will definitely turn out like crap if you do it yourself. they will need to do a color wash first before coloring.

I'm sure you really want to do this and will wind up doing it no matter what anyone says, but I really do think it is a very bad idea.To get your hair as light as you want it,it is going to get so dry and damaged and your roots will be a major pain to keep up. Not a good idea to make your hair so drastically different then what the natural color is. The reason I am saying all this is because I've been there and done that and I had some of the worst hair on the face of the planet and it did not look good.

it may be that you need a stronger volume of bleach or sometimes people need to use two lower doses of bleach to get down to a light base colour. Be careful if you decide to belach your hair again as it will damage your hair the more you bleach it. The following link has a section on bleaching your hair and the stages of colour it can go through from dark to light.

Almost all frosting kits will go as light as you want them considering the amount of time you leave it on...BUT really think about your decision because you will have to maintain your roots and they look AWFUL when they grow out. I kept it up for years and years and finally had to go back natural. Make sure when you buy the kit it says for med/dark brown hair. I prefer Loreal frost and tip for dark hair. Good Luck!!!

I went from a dark brown almost black to a very pale blonde ,by going to a pro then i have kept it up by using boxed products or by going to sally's and getting a highlight packet and using a highlight kit .
My outcome can be seen at ....www.myspace.com/sxi101

i had dark brown hair and i used clairol xl hair dye and it worked fairly well, but you might want to do it twice because it can only lightlen it a certaiin amount each time so do it once then give it a couple of days to strengthen then do it again.
my hair looks fine...i think...
good luck

I think you should go with your natural hair colour, cuz brown is way more beautiful than light blonde.
