Buy an araucaria. You can use this plant as a Xmas tree and then enjoy it around the year. You further save trees and do not consume plastic. You also save money. What else? Oh, yes:
Q. What do a Christmas tree and priest have in common?
A. Their balls are just for decoration.

You can't beat the smell of a real tree, and it looks so much better than an artificial one!
All real trees will drop their needles as they dry out, but the trick is not to put it up too early and don't leave it up for too long after Christmas. Someone told me that spraying the tree with hairspray before putting up the decorations will help it retain the needles. Haven't tried that yet so can't comment on it, but thought it sounded like a good suggestion.

Real trees are very lovely but need more care and make a lot of mess. Nowadays, artificial trees can look almost like real ones, they don't drop needles - and best of all, you only buy it once, then put it away to use again next year!

Ever thought about buying a live tree? I buy a live one every year and after christmas plant it. That way you get the great smell of a real tree, less fire danger because it's a live tree and you do something nice for the world around you instead of cutting down a tree to decorate your living room. The price is about the same as a cut tree.

I'm not sure why you would want one that drops its needles, but I find the cost of new trees are out of reach.
Rather, I've purchased an artificial tree and a good one, the cost deferred over the years lessened my annual cost by mega bucks and its cheaper by the years than re-purchasing annually plus fuel etc etc. do the math, my 150.00 tree now costs me 20.00 per year and i go to the garage to get it.
Use the saved money for a Christmas dinner and nice btl of Cabernet.

Real Christmas trees are messy, and all of them drop lots of needles.
You also have to dispose or recycle them in special locations. They're also cheaper (but don't last as long, of course).
I really like the smell of a real tree, and would never consider a fake tree.

We have an artificial tree. With a 2 year-old to chase and clean up after I don't have time to vacuum the pine needles up all the time, and I really don't care for the smell of pine, which is funny since I live in Washington state...lol

I prefer having artificial trees over real ones. The needles don't fall off and if you find a nice enough one it looks much better in my opinion.

I also have a synthetic tree too. besides the shown fact that, there's no longer something like the genuine factor. We consistently had a real tree. we would bypass to those 'cut back your individual' tree farms. I pass over the scent, the custom, and the relaxing of working around observing each and all the wood and choosing one out. hands down - the genuine tree is extra suitable, IMHO.
