Now first let me say that I've seen some GOOD answers on here from Christians. I say if religion helps you in your life, great! However you can't assume that it is for EVERYONE, just as not everyone may be into the same time of music as you, or enjoy baseball as you do, etc. That said, I have some things to say about some of the ridiculous answers above.....
"u know what? i seen God perform miracles in my life, so much so that I KNOW HE IS REAL, and im very sorry u let satan get the best of u. but even though u used to be a christian doesn't mean that u understand it. or even felt it. i used to doubt that there was a God. but not anymore. i really hope u find your path back to God, pray to him and believe in Him and he will show Himself to u."
1. Ok, like I said before, that's nice that that christianity works for you, but not everyone needs it in their lives. I know it may hurt you to realize this, but some of us live very full and happy lives without christianity! Tell you what - I think everyone should be just like me and wake up at 4:45 a.m. and run sprints up hills and up stairs everyday - i'm really sorry you let fast food get the best of you and I hope you find your path back to the gym. I also hope you stop writing using "u" in place of "you".
"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us that are saved it is the power of God."
2. Umm.........yeah. I hope being saved makes you feel better about having a low I.Q. and not being able to come up with an argument of your own.
"No slamming necessary. I believe because I feel like it. If it makes me feel good and doesn't harm you then you should step off and leave me alone. That said....bless you my child for you are lost.LOL"
3. Now this one started off well, and then ended with what was supposed to by a sly insult of the question asker. See the problem with many of these answers is that Christians are trying to be subtle in their insults by saying "I hope you find Jesus and are saved". They are masking their insults with a plea for us to better our lives the way they have. What they are really saying is "You are an idiot because you don't believe what I believe and you are going to hell". I'm not going to be subtle in my insults - you are an idiot. There, I said it.
"Hey,!
I am a Christian! We know the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
If it was'nt 4 Jesus we would not have Christmas!!!!!
Start to read the bible it explains lots!
I feel bad 4 people who do not know God! U probably miss out on lots in U'r life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..."
4. Another "I feel bad for you" type answer....yawn! You know the truth huh? Just like little kids think they know the truth about Santa - "HE IS REAL I SWEAR! HOW ELSE WOULD ALL THOSE PRESENTS GET THERE ON CHRISTMAS!"
Without Jesus we wouldn't have Christmas? Who cares? I'll make up a holiday called "Winter day" where everyone should get together with family and give each other gifts.
Yeah yeah, I probably miss out on a lot in life because I don't know Jesus.......sure. You probably miss out on a lot in your life because you didn't go to graduate school, which is a fabulous experience which improves one's intellect, career, and gives you a chance to bond with other intelligent people. You should live your life just as I live mine, otherwise you are going to be missing out on a lot. Pfftt.....
Come on now people.
P.S. I never said that Christians don't have graduates degrees, what I was trying to convey was that grad school isn't for EVERYONE. Just because it was a great experience for me, doesn't mean that EVERYONE should go to college and grad school. My brother is going to a trade school instead of college and I think that is a path that suits him better. However if you must know, there is reasearch that has shown that people who finish college have less strict or less orthodox religious beliefs. Like I said in the beginning, I hold nothing against Christians unless they judge ME for not being Christian. I have a good friend who is protestant - it doesn't bother me that he's chosen that path, because it doesn't bother him that I'm different than him.

I'll assume that you are now an Atheist, yes? As for whether Christ existed or not, or whether there was a resurrection or not, remains to be seen. You offer no logical proof that all this was a hoax, you just claim it's a hoax. You were not there in the time of Christ.
For a story such as this to be so popular, there at least must have been some kind of person that shook the religious and political establishment during that time. Whether Christ, or should I call him by his real name, Yeshua, did miracles, remains to be seen.
As for modern day interpretations and traditions, those I consider the biggest hoaxes in history, such as Christmas, Easter, etc. These are a mixture of heathen practices, with a sprinkle of Biblical interpretations. Pure Christianity became corrupted when the last of the apostles finally died. From there on, this corruption has caused misery up to this day and age.

Ok for all those that think Christians are ignorant, dont read history, need to go to graduate school, etc.
1. I am Christian
2. I am a history major - 3.7 GPA - and from one of the top 20 schools in the NATION
3. I am going to graduate school
so what were you saying about us being stupid?
Oh and some of the top students here, are christian. Its a very liberal school that makes life quite difficult for us. Yet we believe and continue on :). Oh and there is a percentage, maybe someone can find it for me, I forget the numbers. It was I believe over 50% of all PHD's are Christian. You cannot be stupid to get a PHD, yet you insist that Christians are stupid? So whats makes you smarter, because you do not belive?

The answer to your question is because religion promises them everlasting life. Religious people are those who can't face the thought of dieing and returning to the soil.
Now, about the word Christian. Shouldn't you use the words religious people instead ? Silly as the beliefs of Christianity are, they're no worse than any of the other religions. Why did you single out just the one religion ?

I don't trust in what man says. I trust in what the Bible says and look at all of the physical and spiritual evidence and most of all my relationship with God.
Further, its pretty hard not to believe a Book that prophisied about things like inner city traffic jams and space travel. So, why wouldn't Heaven, Hell, salvation and Jesus Christ be real as well.
By the way, a lot of Jews today share the story about the body of Jesus was stolen from the tomb after His crucifixion. Another prophecy come true!

I ~like you~ accept everyone's decision of faith. It will not be my problem or fate when it is judgement day. I can even understand how people may think that never happened, there's no concrete proof, it wasn't video taped or photographed. But religion & faith aren't the same thing, you can have faith without religion, but you cannot have religion without faith. Those that do are the ever popular HYPOCRITES! And that's all ok, we all have our very own journeys and paths to walk, But everything in my youth, soul, and life tells there is a God & a saviour. I consider that story (the crucifixion) the greatest symbol of love ever told, whether it is true or not, and I think it is, it is a lovely tale worthy for all of us to try to emulate!:o]

No slamming here. Just wondering why it matters to you what we believe? I mean as a Christian I'm accused of "forcing" my beliefs on others. This type of questioning is doing the same in reverse.
I believe the Bible because it's the word of God. I do believe it is often misinterpreted and taken out of context.

Whats wrong with people wanting to believe? If people wish to follow any religion, they should be free to do so. I am an atheist, and do not condemn those who are christian, or part of any religion. It would simply be wrong. How can we expect respect from others, if we don't show any respect ourselves? The only people I have a problem with are the fundies who use religion as an excuse for hatred and intolerance.
Live and let live, for all are equal.

Hi im amber and i am a Christian. we dont believe in silly things. just want to let you kno that. God is real. and even tho you cant see Him he is always there. being with God is so amazing, you can feel His presence when you walk in church. if you were a Christian, why did you stop? God does so much things. He can do anything. And YOU know what? God loves you so much, He really does. thats why we celebrate Christmas. WE celebrate it because of His birth.

The Word says that the things of God are foolishness to the
material man. Because his finite brain capacity cannot
comprehend it.
Faith, believing without seeing, is only the first step. Actually
experiencing spiritual things for yourself however, goes beyond understanding, and gets one past the fear of ridicule.
