This doesn't quite fit the plot you describe, but it's similar -- "When Worlds Collide;" It's one of my favorite old movies. It's about a sun and planet in collision course with earth. But they don't move the earth, they build a rocket and move a handful of people to the invading planet.
It begins by opening a Bible and quoting from Genesis 6 -- suggesting that the collision is God's retribution.

"When Worlds Collide." In color. At least that's what I got from Suncoast Video. U.S. scientist discover that the earth is on a collision course with a couple of planets.
