Very good question and needs honest answer.
Hell will be right here on the surface of the earth. 2 Peter 3:10-13
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.[c] 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
This earth polluted by sin instigated by satan, together with all his supporters burned in a real hot fire that will do its job properly and completely, that nothing will be left of them except their ashes. Then this earth after the cleansing by fire wil be recreated into a new earth without sin and its results.
A burning hell fire tormenting people forever without ending is not the idea of the Bible but other religions including Greeks and Romans. Later they were adopted by so called "Christians" after the death of the last apostle as predicted by Paul in Acts 20:29-31
29 For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves. 31 Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears.
The Bible teaches that God is just and good. Just like a good father who will not tolerate his children to suffer without end, but will sadly allow them to die in peace if they could not be help any longer. Because sinners who reject His offer will be miserable if allowed to enter heaven together will all those who obey His will, so they will be returned to their origin which was dust or ashes.
This earth wias created as paradise, a perfect dwelling place for beings created in the image of God. Sin entered and marred it, but God is not going to abandon His original plan. Satan and all the wicked people who follow him will be given a certain amount of time to prove to the universe that they have been given a chance but rejected it, and so by their own choice they actually
decided their own final destiny, to be as nothing, returned to the
earth, while those who obey God will be living for eternity on this new earth restored to its Edenic beauty. And true to His name, Emmanuel meaning "God dwells with humans or man", He will make this world the new capital of His Universal Kingdom.
That's why Revelation 21 described how the City of New Jerusalem prepared in heaven and promised to His obedience children(John 14:1-23, will be transported from heaven to this earth. And that is also the reason why in Hebrews 11 it was mentioned that Abraham was looking for that City with foundation.
There is no city on this earth built with a foundation. Hoses, school, office, shopping cengtres, must be build on foundation.
But the New Jerusalem is the only city that is built on foundation because it will be moved from heaven to the surface of this earth.
So as the wicked will be receive theri punishment, that or being returned to dust and have eternal death, meaning the opposite of life, not eternal suffering or torment, the righteous people will have their reward upon this earth that is eternal life without pain, suffering, sickness and death forever.

As long as we're working on the Big Questions...when you step on a crack, does your mother's back break right that second, or is there a window of time during which the miracle can occur? Also, is "No slugs back" when you slug for a slugbug really binding? Get back to me.

In Revelation the battle of Armegeddon goes along with this- Jesus is going to slay them with the breath of His sword- and yes they will all die on that day- and there will actually be no battle because Jesus will strike them all down at once....and then it says the birds of the air will feast on their flesh....But the end of Revelation does say they are "cast" into the lake of fire...so they are being moved to Hell.
By the way good question and GREAT scriptures!

You are right. The effects are everlasting, not the burning. Hell means the grave. The lake of fire is the second death!
