Hi everybody. :-)

I am about 9 stones (that might not seem much but I am at the verge of my ideal weight because I am really petite) and I just wanna go down to 7 or 8 stones. I hope to do it in 6 to 8 weeks (before exam stress build up and I won't have time for gym again) and then maintain my weight. I eat very healthily - rice, pasta, with little oil (make my own meal), grilled meat, lots of fish and vegetable. But I don't exercise because of Uni and work -which makes me very concious about gaining weight. But since now it's Xmas holiday (6 weeks), I just wanna hit the gym and hope to give myself a better and healthier body for the new year (and maintain it).

Any suggestions on what I should do in the gym and what diet I should follow?

Thanks so much!

run 800 m, that is day one, it will probably kill you... but do it.. two days later, run the same circuit twice... then every second day, run two 800 m circuits (when I say run, I mean 'jog' (& slow is harder than middle-paced))... do that for about 3 weeks... then up the length... try 1K circuits... then take it from there...

I did it (started about 15 weeks ago, now do two circuits of about 1.5 K)... after 6 weeks, I'd lost about a 14 lbs...

Yes, I was a bit porky up 'til then... now... I'm not...

p.s: get good trainers... do it early in the morning...just around dawn... &, finally, you feel grrrrrrrrrrrrreat after about a week or so...

p.p.s: yeah, when you're fit & all... give me a call... lol!

In the U.S. we use the pounds and ounces system of measuring weight. If I remember correctly, a stone is approximately equal to 16 pounds. Nine stones would put you at about 144 pounds and, you're right, at the verge of petite, but a bit past it. My adivce: stay with regular exercise, but try using the method put forth in the Rotation Diet. I've found it works very well. For women, you reduce your caloric intake to 600 calories daily for three days. Then you consume 900 daily for the next three days. Next you up your intake to 1200 calories for the next three days, at the end of which you restart the cycle. At the end of the second cycle, you eat anything you want for one day, a holiday let's from the diet, then restart the system as described. That's all there is too it and it works. The one catch is that you have to be conscientious about keeping an abolutely accurate record of everything with caloric content that goes into your mouth. Follow these rules and you will lose close to the amount you're aiming for.

Check out the South Beach Diet on line and note that it suggests some variations on the above. Good luck!

I suggest you go jogging at least 3-4 times a week or every day if you can manage it, either in the morning before going uni or after for 20min the weight will drop off. Ask a friend to come along it is more motivating. And drink lots of water.

I would get yourself an i-pod or something that plugs into your ears and go gentle jogging or walking, whilst listening to text read out by yourself to a recorder.
You get the excrcise and also good quality revising time.
