i do not have a direct answer to your question, but i routinely use the website bensbargains.net and edealinfo.com and they often have some great deals, maybe check them out. i have an n80 (nikon) that i bought a couple of years back from onecall.com. the n80 takes great pictures and is really light.

Canon Rebel Xt (not the digital one) standard kit is around $350.
