very well could be depression. Depression is a very tricky disease. There are so many different forms of depression as well as symptoms. Some people may know that they are depressed. Some don't and to be quite honest with you I work in a psych hospital and stress in fact is a symptom of depression. Sometimes people don't know how to deal with stress so other symptoms may occur. Like mood swings, excessive eating, loss of appitite, sleeping all the time or not enough, crying, ect...Post Tramatic Stress disorder is another form of depression. You should look into it. I hope I helped and if you need anymore info feel free to email me.

unfortunately, these are some of the signs of depression. the illness, and yes it is an illness, can be paralyzing so therefore must be attended to by a professional. medication is key and also other means such as therapy which can be considered. the main thing here is get your mom help immediately, for both your life and her life. this is an illness, not a character 'flaw', please remember that. good luck and stay safe.

Take her to church with you, and joy in the Lord.
In the Beginning God created heavens and earth.
God gives you air to breathe and sunshine to enjoy.
God gives you water to drink and food to eat.
God gives you a wonderful body and sound mind, to live.
God loves you, and you are precious to Him.
Son of God died on the Cross to save us from condemnation.
Jesus’ love is boundless and everlasting.
We have the hope of Heaven through Jesus.
Life therefore has fantastic and glorious future!
(Digestion of above can even prevent depression and suicidal thoughts.)
