I mean, isn't this part of Yahoo the part of life that you guys don't believe in?
I do not mean to sound disrespectful, or rude, but why pay attention to this part at all?

For many reasons. Mainly we come in here to educate Christians and people of other religions about atheism. We have a vested interest in teaching people about religion. There is much harm being done by religious people these days because of their religious beliefs. There are Muslims blowing others up in Iraq. Christians blew up other people in Ireland. Oppressive religious laws are being passed in the US and abroad. People are siding with political issues just because their relligious leaders tell them to, without actually considering the morality of the issue themselves. Ignorance is being promoted and spread in the name of religion. Science is being devalued and held back, even when it would help our lives. People are wasting their money on religious junk when that money could be used to make everybody's life better.

Above all, I would just rather live in a world with people who were less superstitious.

This is the part of life we don't believe in. Yet we are interested int why billions of the planet do believe in it. So we ask questions. There is no better way to learn about life if you don't discuss. And Yahoo Answers is a great place to have these discussions. And certainly if "atheism" is the absence of religion, it can still be asked in the "religion" category. Plus, if we want to know why someone believes in something that they do, where else would you supposed we ask it? In the "Fantasy" section? I doubt anyone there can give us a true answer from a religious point of view.

Religion and mythology actually shows up under the Society and Culture section. So very often when I'm looking for questions about things that interest me, such as language and myth, questions about religion also show up in the same area.

Perhaps if Christians want a section all to themselves in which no atheists, Muslims, pagans, Jews, agnostics, deists, Buddhists, Hindus, or evolutionists are allowed to respond, they should go elsewhere.

nicely, all and sundry has the right to precise their evaluations right here. That stated, many (yet in no way all) atheists that I even have met or come for the duration of could be each bit as fanatical approximately being atheist as any so-spoke of as "religious freak". people who're fanatical additionally look to sense that they are victims of a few perceived incorrect from others and for this reason, from their perspectives, are in basic terms reacting to this perceived incorrect whilst they're proactive in in seek of opportunities to antagonize and berate human beings of religion. often, those individuals are certainly very bitter. To be honest, nevertheless, enthusiasts of any flavor have a tendency to be very bitter or maybe advise lively. on the different hand, i've got conventional atheists who have been certainly friendly, respectful, and of average temperament. i'm guessing some enthusiasts have discovered an outlet right here. yet, that's purely a wager. i does no longer hardship approximately them. in simple terms proceed to ask and answer as you generally might, and ignore approximately them. do no longer hardship approximately their antagonism, sarcasm, advise lively motives... or giving low rankings to solutions from the truthful ;-) Take care.

That's a good question, as an atheist I stopped short a bit as to how to answer that one. What am I doing on this site? I guess like religious people, we all have our views and want to share them. After all if you are religious, do you really NEED to go on a site and blab about it? This is also the place where religious people put contentious views, and I personally feel an obligation to balance the books by putting an alternative view. I suppose it's a bit like an anti-fascist going onto a Nazi website and leaving his opinion (or vice versa).

They have an equal right to preach their religion just like anyone else. Despite all the different views in here, the true one will win anyway in the end. For a true Christian viewpoint, these people were prophecied in the Bible as part of the signs of the last days.

I do because it's interesting. I like to understand what my fellow tool-oriented sapient Earthlings think, even if I don't agree with them.

I also admit I get a kick out of mocking poor trolls and laughing at good ones on both sides of the religion/atheism canyon.

Why does this question get asked a dozen times a day? Are people incapable of using the search function?

Here's your answer....

Because Atheists are defending secular life because the religious keep trying to force everyone to live by their religion. If YOU keep your religion out of the secular life of everyone else, then Atheists will shut up.

Been asked tons of times, boring. Why don't you read the thread title correctly, next time, before you get all high up and mad.

The thing is called 'Religion & Spirituality'. Being an atheist doesn't stop you from being spiritual.

And also: why do humans, who aren't rocks, post questions and answers in a category called 'Earth Science'?

When you ask a question here you always get a list of similar questions that were asked before. Why don't you look at the answers that were given the last 20 times that this was asked?
