How do you create a video of an event performed on a PC?

Question

Like for example you may creating a drawing on photoshop or you could be playing a game and you want everything recorded into a video, so that at the end you can save your work in an mpg format (from when you started playing your game or drawing your picture) then you can vew what you did on windows media player. How can i do this? Any ideas? Any help will be appreciated thanks!
