A lot of people pray when they want something, or they feel quilt for doing something wrong, or they are asking God to intervene on someone's behalf, like a sick or dying person. When someone has a problem and they can't find the answer, they frequently turn to prayer. Others pray because it is part of their religious ritual to give thanks. Whatever the reason, there is usually a time when prayer comes to mind.

I am not sure if everything is already said and done. I think if you ask God for something when you pray, he will let it come true. Praying helps in a lot of ways, I dont know them all though.

They pray for answers. Everything may be said and done, but we each choose to experience those events, they are not thrust upon us and we are not fated to experience a forced destiny. Imagine a bank of probable events great and small. At every moment you choose which event to experience. All the other probable events are still 'real' (already said and done). Each individual creates his life according to the nature of their belief. There is no other rule.----------anyway, people pray for meaning and insights in order to create a better life and to make sense of life.

Prayer is the communication that connects us to God. People pray because it is a powerful and unique substance through which we can express our gratitude as well as seek our needs. it has no boundaries of distance, time, or language. Prayer needs only a humble and dedicated heart to confess our sins and invite peace into our lives as well as others.

Your question presupposes certain things, I will assume that you are speaking about a Christian God... in that case, look up a guy called Molina & his concept of 'middle knowledge'...

Another view has it that 'prayer' is about 'meditation', a kind of way of preparing or developing oneself 'some way or other' so that one can 'accept' what is happening...

Yet another view is that 'prayer' brings out the 'God self' or the 'God within oneself' & thus one becomes part of what the maker is... of course, this is just another view....

Variations of the above points & many other viewpoints are 'out there'...

Prayer does a couple of different things for me:

1) Helps align my will with God's.

2) Gives me a chance to ask for blessings that He's already willing to give me, but just waiting for me to ask.

3) Gives me the chance to ask for forgiveness for all my mistakes.

4) Strengthens my relationship with my husband as I pray with him.

thanks

Quite simply, because God wants communication and fellowship with His children.

He commands in His word to Pray Without Ceasing.

He created us for His pleasure, and by praying to Him and conversing with Him, we are in fact worshipping Him.

Prayer does not always mean asking for thigns. Prayer is the raising up of your mind and heart to God.

If you love God, why would you not talk to him?

Secondly, if we ask somethign of God, such as grace to make it through a hard time, or a hard temptation, God will help us.

God bless,
Shane

If one believes that prayer works they deny the idea of god's master plan.

If one believes in the idea of god's master plan, prayer becomes irrelevant.

If one believes in gods master plan one Denies free will.

It's all so contradictory and confusing. I don't bother myself with prayer, i understand that the only outcomes in my life that i have any control over are affected by my actions and decisions and therefore devote my time to rational thought instead of prayer, which is useless.

you aren't supposed to pray to God asking for things you wish for or need because He already knows. You're supposed to pray so you can get closer to Him.
