Sounds like she has the fundamentals down, try some pretty, frilly panties for her, maybe that will encourage her not to soil them. :o)

Well since the toilet seat is too big for her you need to use something smaller. Usually the little potty has a smaller piece that can attach to the toilet for her so use that. Then put a stool there for her. Let her know that next time she needs to use the potty she should run to either mommy or daddy before hand and tell them she need to go. Teach her how to pull down her pants and call for you when she's done. After that teach her how to wipe her hands. Soon she'll have enough confidence to begin wiping herself and when she's old enough to come to you or your wife in the middle of the night or just hold it until the morning she may want to wear underware! Good luck!

20 months is awful young to expect your daughter to fully grasp potty training. She just may not be ready yet. My daughter showed an interest in the toilet at 18 months, so I bought a little potty, read books, demonstrated, etc., but she really didn't grasp it. I didn't want to pressure her and make potty training stressful and aversive, so I gave it up for months. Almost a year later, I tried again using a sticker chart and she was fully potty trained in a weekend. I know that you are probably itching to get rid of diapers, but I think patience is your best bet at her age. I hope this helps.

Get her a "big potty" insert for the big toilet (padded, smaller opening, fits right on top of the big toilet seat). There are lots of options at most department stores with characters she'd like (Blue, Dora...) That way, she can use the big toilet without falling in. She's probably into modeling behavior, so if Mom's OK with doing a potty demo, it's probably a good idea. Another thought: get her a dolly that "goes potty." Have her teach the dolly to use the toilet...that way she can be the Big Girl showing somebody else how to potty. Good luck--

she should know what she needs to do in the potty without demonstration. if u ask her "have u done a poo" when shes got a diaper on, then when u ask her to do a poo on the potty she will know exactly what u mean. it just takes time. try her in big girl pants and take her to the toliet every half hour / hour.
and
MRS TALKITIVE.... being potty trained before u are 2 years old is very good for a child! most are over 3! i work with seven 1-2 year olds in daycare and none of them are anywere near ready for potty training!!

All 5 of my babies accompanied to the bathroom pretty much the moment they were born. Put the potty chair where you usually hang out, like the lliving room. Then let her run around naked all day (turn the heat up if it's winter where you live). "Catch" her if you can, put her on the potty, and reward with mini-marshmallows when she goes. Make it super exciting. It's easier for them if they are naked and can see there "bits and pieces". All 5 of my kids took about a day and a half to train this way, literally. And they were younger than 20 mos.

Congrats on your new endeavor. It needs to be a team effort w/your wife and your self as well as your care taker (if any). Every 15minutes take your daughter to the potty and have her sit their. Litterally after 3 days my daughter was using the potty. I know it is time consuming but their will be a point when you daughter will just realize the connection of sitting at the potty to release her stuff.
Good Luck.

Well let her watch her mom go to the bathroom and say look mommies going pee-pee (or whatever you say) then sit her on the potty. If she wants to sit on the big one they have a seat that goes on top of it for little kids. I got that for my daughter. and sit her on there often. What usually works is if you give her a drink put her on 15 minutes later if she doesnt go still then put her on 5 minutes later and keep doing it. You have to be consistant with them. She'll get the hang of it it sounds like she is easy because she already is giving you her diapers

With my daughter I used one of those dolls that pee in the potty. After the doll peed I pretended to give her an M&M then sat my daughter on the potty and when she went I did give her an M&M, 3 pieces of candy for a poo. I hope this helps.

She is already toilet "learning". Children learn all the steps involved. I think the last thing they get the hang of is actually going in the potty or toilet.
If your wife takes your little one with her to the washroom she will get the hang of it in time.
Patience is the key to it. There will be messes. LOL
