In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.

O Prophet! when believing women come to thee, taking the oath of allegiance at thy hands that they will not associate anything with God, and that they will not steal, and will not commit adultery, nor kill their children, nor bring forth a scandalous charge which they themselves have deliberately forged, nor disobey thee in what is right, then accept their allegiance and ask God to forgive them. Verily, God is Most Forgiving, Merciful.

O ye who believe! surely, among your wives and your children are some who are your enemies, so beware of them. And if you overlook and forgive and pardon, then, surely, God is Most Forgiving, ever Merciful.

What would I do if my spouse had an affair?

Depends on a few things first:
How long was it going on
Is he willing to change
Do we have children

There are lots of things to take into consideration I think before just up and getting divorced...Would it be hard to forgive? YES. I honestly don't know what I would do because it has never happened and hopefully never will...

1) No
2)Depends if it was the 1st or 15th time
3)We would definitely be separated for a while

There are many variable that come into play; how long we've been together... what we've been through together... if it was a one night stand or a relationship... While I believe everyone makes mistakes, repeat "mistakes" don't happen. Everyone should be forgiven if they are remorseful, but you are not remorseful for the same mistake.

Would I kill her? NO
I would not take any retribution what so ever. If her devotion is not freely given it is worthless to me.

Would I divorce her? Yes.
If she wants to be with someone else she can't have me.

Would I forgive her? Yes.
If she was willing to recommit herself to me and forsake all others I would continue to love and Cherish her and forget the past.

Would my heart be broken? Yes.
you can't truly love with out putting your heart on the line.

It would depend upon the circumstances surrounding the infidelity. Besides looking at what she had done, maybe it would be a good opportunity to review what I had or had not done to contribute to her infidelity. Not that my actions fully justified what was done.

We were made "one flesh" in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. Although it would be difficult, I would forgive her and move on.
