Hey girl, are we sisters? I have a bro just like that, and he is my TWIN bro. I don't know the answer to your ? but when you find the answer if you could bottle it, especially right here at the holiday season, you could be a millionaire.
Maybe talk to him...? Some people are just harder to reach than others.
I don't know if I buy the bit about guys not being affectionate because they are just guys. My oldest brother never hangs the telephone up without telling me he loves me. He's is one of the most caring and wonderful individuals I know. He's always positive, appreciates life, and he is just a very personal guy and is not afraid to let his wife and others know he loves them. Now one of my other bros. is just as completely opposite of that as he can be. I know he loves me, but he never tells me that. They grew up under the same roof...go figure?

Don't worry that he doesn't SHOW you love. There are many ways that people show their love and he may just be showing it differently. Differences like words of affirmation, gifts, quality time etc... Try to see if he is possibly showing you love in a different way to what you do. This will help in ALL relationships. If this is not the case. Just be there for him. That alone will be more then enough for him to love you. Try not to judge but rather help him up. That will show you are there for him. Look closely at how you treat him as well. Some guys may feel that you are trying to hard (because they feel love in a different way).
JUST DON'T GIVE UP... it will work out.. Even though it may seem to get worse...

Some people are just more affectionate than others, while others are real standoffish, and that's just the way of the world.
I believe that it has to do with the environment at home and the personalities of each individual.
When it comes to your brother, sometimes they are not the touchy-feely kind, but it doesn't have any thing to do with the love they have for you .
Sometimes things that they do for you speaks volumes and it doesn't have to involve hugging or even localizing the words " I love you". It's just something that is understood without words or actions.

Oh, I'm sorry your brother is not affectionate. Just keep on hugging him, let him know you love him. I think he'll come around.

He's a guy! Guys are like that, they feel wimpish if they show their affection and emotions like women do. We love openly, they love in private. Don't sweat it, my HUSBAND is the same way! I know he loves me, though. He just won't openly say it all the time.
