We were wondering how much you get back on taxes for each dependant(child) and if I should file her to along with the baby at tax season.. Shes really nervous... She cries alot and has mood swings..I wish there was something I could do to help her.... But anyway, I dident mean to go offtopic I work for a walmart and we were just curious how it all worked and what the amount was....
Its not important as far as the money is concerned we just wanna
plan if possible to ensure a good life for our kid. And would like to know...

You will receive a tax break the following year after the child's birth (child is 1 year old). The only thing you can file for this upcoming tax season is all medical expenses (yours and hers).

Right now, you can only claim your wife as a dependant, assuming she does not also work. The baby does not count until it is actually born.
The amount of the tax break depends on how much you make. My husband and I essentially don't pay taxes because we have an extremely low income (hopefully that will change when I go back to work)

As far as the mood swings go, just be as supportive as you can, and do sweet things for her randomly (like a massage!) They are normal and will pass :-)

Good luck!

A dependant runs about $3200 ..I don't know what it will be for 2006 returns.

If you have the child before December 31st, even at 11:59 PM...you can still claim the baby as a dependant on your 2006 taxes.

If you have the baby after January 1, you won't be able to claim until 2007 Tax Season.

Good Luck !!

Because you are married you have no choice but to claim together. If you were not married you could get back anywhere from 2500 to 3500 yearly. Canadian anyway. But if she is not working at all you can claim her and the baby as dependants and get back quite a heavy amount.

You may qualify for the earned income tax credit depending on your income. Go to www.irs.gov & do a search for earned income tax credit to learn more.
