The Problem with scabies is that the poo from the scabies mite remains under the skin even after all the mites have been killed. It is the poo which causes the itch. If you have treated yourself with permethrin or similar and have carefully followed the instructions then the mites will be dead and there is no point in re-treating within a week. To avoid possibly passing it on you should wait until all the itching has stopped before close contact ( which will probably be about 3 weeks).

Sulfur ointment helps. It will itch for a while until your body can clean up the dead mites under your skin. Try some Hydrocortisone or Benadryl cream on the itchy spots. Take some vitamin C 1 gram 4 times a day til the itch gets better.

Anbusol should deaden the area enough to help with the itching.
