What equipment do I need (dvd/r? and or with vcr?) and what cd media do I need to use. For example, a dvd/r disc? For the disc I need to use, how many hours will it store? Our home movies run about 6 hours long. Please help if you can so I can help my mom with this.

As she said, one day vcr's will be like 8-track players. They just won't make them. She could have this done professionally but the guy we know who does this charges a fortune. There's got to be a way she can do this on her own with the proper equipment and accessories. I would greatly appreciate if someone could tell me about it.

Thanks!

get a dvd burner home deck. play tape on VCR, run wire to dvd burner. you now have dvds. circuitcity.com has them. Panasonic is probably the best. MIKE
