I usually use day old bread. You can use sandwich bread, texas toast or my favorite is actually french bread. Sliced about 3/4 to 1 inch thick.
2 large eggs
1/2 cup of milk
1 tablespoon heavy cream
3/4 to 1 tsp of vanilla extract
6-8 slices of bread.
Makes enough for 2-3 people.
Preheat a large non stick skillet over medium heat. Place a few drops of water on the skillet, when the water just dances and evaporates on the surface of the pan, you're ready. Scramble the eggs and add the other ingredients and mix well. Soak the bread in the mixture. Spray the pan lightly with pam or use butter or oil. Then cook each piece for 2-3 minutes until golden brown on both sides. Sprinkle with cinnamon or powdered sugar. May serve with maple syrup if you like.

I use Texas toast bread . I beat and egg and add some milk, Cinnamon and sugar .I coat the pan with either butter or a cooking spray . I make sure the skillet is hot and after I dip the bread in the egg mixture I place it in the skillet . I cook it until it is golden brown and the flip it over and the same with that side .

Day old sliced bread holds nicer than fresh. In one bowl I beat a couple of eggs and in another bowl I put some milk. First I dunk the bread in the milk... not too long, you don’t want it too soggy. Then I dunk it in the egg. I find that doing it separately has a nicer result as the milk is nice a moist inside and the egg makes a nice crust outside. Fry in a non-stick pan with a tiny bit of butter or margarine. I then pour the syrup and finish it off with a sprinkle of cinnamon.

"Jam 'n' Cream French Toast" - 1 serving
2 tbsp. cream cheese; softened
2 thick slices cinnamon-raisin bread
2 tbsp. strawberry jam
1 egg
1 tbsp. flour
Maple syrup
Spread cream cheese on one slice of bread; spread jam on the other slice. Place jam side down over the cream cheese. In shallow bowl, beat egg; dip both sides of bread into egg.
Melt butter in skillet; cook bread 3 to 4 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Serve with syrup, if desired.

First you take a piece of sliced bread (really it can be any kind the you like). Then you crack a couple eggs in a bowl and stir them until they're a sort of consistant color. If you like cinnamon you can add just a little to the eggs. I also reccommend putting a little bit of water into the eggs. Next you dip the bread into the eggs and soak it for a couple of seconds. Put the eggy bread onto a hot pan (maybe medium) and cook it on both sides for a minute or two, or untill its a good light-brown color.

Usually what I do is use Wheat bread because it holds better than white bread does,mix eggs,sugar,cinnamon,nutmeg and milk(actually I usually use the liquid coffee creamer in French Vanilla or Cinnamon Hazelnut gives it an extra flavor to it,but you can just use regular milk)dunk the bread in it and fry it up on each side and tada there ya go!

Dip slices of bread (the thicker, the better, IMHO) in the egg mix, and fry in a skillet that's been preheated with a couple of teaspoons of margarine or oil. Serve with powdered sugar, maple syrup, or your favorite preserves.
