Every once in a while, portions of my fingers (like, the sections between the creases) will get really red and really, really, REALLY itchy. Like, painfully itchy. Unable to be ignored itchy. They get really hot, too, and there's a pulse. They swell up and get so tight it seriously feels like my finger might burst. There's no pain involved, just extreme itchiness and heat and the weird swelling. It goes away after 45 minutes or so.

Anyone know what this might be? I'm going to try to work up the courage to go to the dermatologist, but I feel so silly describing something so weird--especially when it's not happening *right that moment.*

dont feel silly for going to the dermatologist for that. Maybe next time it happens you could take a picute of it being really red and swollen to show the Dr. Good Luck!

Dermatitis, What kind (as there are many) is for a Doctor to determine.

Could even be scabies but without seeing it, who knows?

I get something similar from either eating Onions (sulfa allergy) or from metals. If I wear anything of dubious metallic nature (cheap jewelery) I get the same thing on my wrist.

If you have Insurance... Go to an allergist or a dermatologist and get a proper diagnosis. In the mean time a corticosteroid is your best bet. Cortisone cream or ointment will help dry out the blisters and calm the itching.

It reminds me of the eczema I had on my fingers. Go to a dermatologist - they'll probably recognize it right away. I tried dealing with mine for a couple of months, using vitamin E, over the counter hydrocortisone cream (1/2% was all that was available at that time), even prescription 1% hydrocortisone cream from my aunt. The dermatologist took one look at it and said, yep, it's eczema. She gave me a prescription for an ointment and it was gone it less than a week.

My mom has this feeling because she works as a manucurist and she usually itches because she was exposed to harmful chemical liquids or powders, household cleaning products, and has allergy to eating saltwater fish which she cant resists. I would always see my mom scratching and then stops on and off. Her skin kinda looks very red, chipped off, and white stuff and lumps out of it. My mom uses this temporarily lotion Aveeno, but she goes to the doctor when she has time. I dont know determatolist sounds nice and a dcotor too sounds 100% assured.

See the doctor who will refer you to the appropriate specialist. Sounds like an allergic reaction to something that you are periodically exposed to in your environment. Handle any weird things lately? Could be a food allergy, though that usually causes problems elsewhere. This is not normal; don't put up with it. Get it checked.

It is definitely an infection. I would soak it in warm water and see if there is anything in it. If no better go to the Doctors but there is only a few antibiotics that you cant drink with so you may be alright. If the Doc gives you some and you cant drink with them take them after your party.
