As an American I am happy that I can still worship God in my own way with out interference for anyone. Although I feel that a lot of Americans would rather it be freedom from religion instead of freedom of religion.

Oh yes AMEN!!! Check out the ministry - Voice of the Martyrs - and you will hear incredible stories. The history of the Reformation is full of atrocities that Christians committed against each other. The lives and/or legend of Catholic saints, even recent ones, are full of people who died for their faith. It is not just a christian thing either. Let's not forget the "ethnic cleansing" in Kosovo. There is the Holocaust and every day around the world people of ALL religions fight each other in the name of God and people always have. Even some casualties in the U.S.'s war on terror could be martyrs. One of my favorite songs says, "people kill in Jesus name but He is not the one to blame." People using God for their own purposes is the problem. When I was a kid in Tennessee the KKK used to claim that they were Christians doing God's work. It always pissed me off even back then. Finally, my point is that in America, you are FREE to IGNORE misguided hateful people and free to seek God however you want too. Most Americans probably don't think about it but I thank God that I am living is America. It is a blessing that every one should appreciate.

The way I see it, most Americans take it for granted, but I personally am glad for it. I used to take it for granted, too, until I started questioning the beliefs I was raised in and started getting upset about all this "bring back prayer in school" sort of crap started. Then I started looking into things and realized what I had and is so precious to me now.
Without it, I'd have to go against my heart and beliefs to believe in something I don't. It's bad enough for my family to do it, but it'd be way worse for me to do it because my government said to or else. I'm glad I can be who I am inside religiously, even if others don't realize just how darn lucky we are to have that right.

I am, and I am an American. I am happy about, and deeply appreciate ALL of the freedom we have in the United States of America. Please note that all of America does not share the same freedom as "The States", Mexico, Central and South America largely have martial law and are third-world countries, they are part of "America", but not the free, blessed part, in my opinion.

Well, they're supposed to have freedom of religion. But I don't think its as free as they try to say it is. Especially with the movement to "turn the country back into a Christian country".
Freedom of religion will apply when a Pagan soldier can have a pentacle on his gravestone and not before. Right now, that doesn't exist.

Other countries have freedom of religion now too. Long ago it was different but I guess now people can go their own way in other countries.
Yes, Americans love freedom. That's why they choose to be gay/lesbian.

I'd be a lot happier if Americans would remember that we have freedom of and from religion before they started trying to shove it down our throats by passing religious-based laws, making us have to sue to get them to stop, and then complaining about how they are being persecuted.

We're indifferent to it as we've never experienced true persecution.
