I used to until one year me and my brother wanted to stay up late and see Santa, but only found my parents wrapping gifts and eating the cookies, after that I stopped believing in Santa plus we didn't have a chimney back then so that woulda meant Santa breaking and entering, and instead of robbing you, leaving you things, which is pretty creepy! So who wants to share?

Whenever I have kids I'll do this for them and ALSO have my husband(when I get one)dress up as Santa and put the gifts under the tree

i left them one year and when i got up i immediately exclaimed "daddy ate the cookies!" and my parents looked at each other and said why would you say that? and i responded by saying "because the napkin is balled up and on the side of the plate!" they just looked at each other in shock (i guess from the fact i was that observant at a young age) they didn't say anything and i walked away. i was pissed at my dad for eating santas cookies lol. so i didn't bother after that cause i didn't want my dad eatin his cookies anymore. i now have two kids of my own and last year my son insisted we leave cookies for him. my boyfriend came over and we ate them and i'm careful not to make it obvious that i ate them cause i think he's a lot like i was.

*raises hand* we used to leave cookies for Santa...that was part of the magic of the event...to see the cookies gone and the milk glass with just a little white residue in it...

We never caught anyone to spoil or Santa myth, but just finally grew to an age to understand that Santa is really just the spirit of the season, and not a literal man that brings presents...

My family (esp me and Mom, I'm 41) still put gifts under the tree and write from Santa on the tag, just because. :)

What? There is no Santa??? I put cookies and milk out every Christmas Eve for Santa and a carrot for Rudolph. When I get up Christmas morning the cookies and milk are gone and there is a BIG bite out of the carrot. I don't eat them so someone does....so it must be Santa and I refuse to believe otherwise! :)

My mom and I had a tradition of baking lots of cookies together on Christmas Eve and leaving them out for Santa. No one dressed up or anything like that. I just had to go to sleep early or I couldn't get my presents because my mom said Santa wouldn't come if I was awake.

Yes I did when I was little with my siblings.
Also we use to put out water, grass and corn to 3 Wise men camels ( 3 Reyes Magos). I'm from Puerto Rico but my mom was born & raised in NYC so we celebrated both traditions. It was a magical time, all that excitement, my mother use to leave some cookie crumbs, & some scattered grass and corn all over, then she will go to her room and make a noise so we would wake up and beleive that once again we missed that chance of catching them on the way out. Then once we found out it was just my mom, it was our turn to make up the story for younger generations.
*** Oh, sorry mom but we really knew it was you a couple years before we told you we did.

We put out Cookies and Milk (with a shot of whiskey) for Santa... and carrots and sprouts for the reindeer. It went on a little teak-table next to the chimney.

I do it now for my daughters and son, and will do everything to keep that innocent belief going as long as possible. I even made sure we build a fireplace and chimney into our island home.

well i set out cookies and celery and carrots and milk for santa and his reindeer. my older sister told me that santa came to all of the schools in my town and he was the janitor or someting, and i was really nice to all of the custodians already because some of them were my friends family members, but then i thought that my friends were santas relatives. but it if fun to believe. my mom writes santa on gifts that we share now just to be in the holiday spirit.

We left out cookies and milk, yeah.. maybe Santa is like a religion. You play like you believe in it to get what you want.

My family did and santa left us a picture of himself by our tree. I have passed that tradition on to my three children.
