You should go to a qualified professional.
The principal characteristics of ADHD are inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. These symptoms appear early in a child's life. Because many normal children may have these symptoms, but at a low level, or the symptoms may be caused by another disorder, it is important that the child receive a thorough examination and appropriate diagnosis by a well-qualified professional.
Symptoms of ADHD will appear over the course of many months, often with the symptoms of impulsiveness and hyperactivity preceding those of inattention, which may not emerge for a year or more. Different symptoms may appear in different settings, depending on the demands the situation may pose for the child's self-control. A child who "can't sit still" or is otherwise disruptive will be noticeable in school, but the inattentive daydreamer may be overlooked. The impulsive child who acts before thinking may be considered just a "discipline problem," while the child who is passive or sluggish may be viewed as merely unmotivated. Yet both may have different types of ADHD. All children are sometimes restless, sometimes act without thinking, sometimes daydream the time away. When the child's hyperactivity, distractibility, poor concentration, or impulsivity begin to affect performance in school, social relationships with other children, or behavior at home, ADHD may be suspected. But because the symptoms vary so much across settings, ADHD is not easy to diagnose. This is especially true when inattentiveness is the primary symptom.

The three types of ADHD symptoms are:
Inattention. This is the most common symptom. In addition to having difficulty paying attention, people with this symptom often are unable to consistently focus, remember, and organize. They may be careless and have a hard time starting and completing tasks that are boring, repetitive, or challenging.
Impulsivity. People who frequently act before thinking may not make sound judgments or solve problems well. They may also have trouble developing and maintaining personal relationships. An adult may not keep the same job for long or spend money wisely.
Hyperactivity. A hyperactive child may squirm, fidget, and climb or run when it is not appropriate. These children often have difficulty playing with others. They may talk a great deal and not be able to sit still for even a short time. Teenagers and adults who are hyperactive don't usually have the more obvious physical behaviors seen in children. Rather, they often feel restless and fidgety and are not able to enjoy reading or other quiet activities.
However, you should go see a doctor. Good luck.

If everyone who thought they had ADHD, or thought that their kid did, would just change their lifestyles to fix it, we would have an awesomely healthy world! My son was diagnosed with ADHD and I was told to put him on ritalin. I refused and was determined to find a better way to deal with it. I went to ADD meetings and read up everything I could find. When I finally wrote out a "plan of attack", I realized that everything in my cupboards was the absolute wrong foods. Even some of the things that I thought were really healthy! It took two weeks to get a near perfect son. Some of the things that I changed were... no oranges or fruits containing salicylates, no processed foods, no refined sugars, eat more EFA's (good fats), stay away from preservatives, no red dyes, avoid too much TV, video games or other distractions like them. Excercise daily. Imagine how healthy we'd all be!!!

ADHD and all the other alphabet soup of terms are primarily a method whereby otherwise people not good for anything can act as if they are valuable professionals. AT LEAST 90% of what the psychologists and others of their ilk have named as problems are nothing more than variations within the acceptable limits of normal human behavior. Look at the "symptoms", as they are called. You may not listen attentively. Maybe the person you're talking to is boring! You can't sit still. Good for you! Find something you enjoy doing and expend that energy. Remember, for most people, there are no true answers in bottles of drugs or alcohol. I'm considered "aggressive". Why? Because if you get in my face I will respond. Otherwise, I'm a pussycat. I've lived 66 years and watched these shrinks slowly become acceptable. It has been most disgusting to watch. These are the people who prescribed and performed frontal lobotomies and shock treatments, remember. What I find most disgusting is that society has accepted them instead of throwing rocks at them.

I was diagnosed with ADHD and I don't think much of it other then doctors trying to bank on medication. I was told I would never do good in school but here I am going to college. Dr. Dean Edell has helped me with his views about ADHD. I think it is mind over matter.

if you could read through rewindingmoments question and not start thinking about something else, or quiting, or something like that. good job. cause i couldn't and i have ADHD.
if your feeling like you cant concentrate on anything and/or hyperness is getting in the way of your life and making you not be able to work on school work or your job, then you might wanna tell somone that your worried about it. but if your hyper and stuff but its not getting you in trouble or making you get bad grades or stuff like that i wouldn't worry about it cause ADHD can be a good thing too. cause people with ADHD are usually really smart and creative they just learn differently and certain things are harder for them. but usually great at hands-on activitys and notice things that nobody else does and........
lots of other stuff too.

It's very easy. Both my boys have it. The first step is make an appointment with your doctor. They will ask you several questions about different things, and that's how they make the diagnosis. My boys had to take a questionnaire to school for their teachers to fill out about their behavior and ability to focus. Depending on the answers and your scores, that's how they determine the diagnosis.

you can't focus, you get very hyper or very random, the majority of the things you do you don't think about, you have impulse control...etc. there's a lot of things that contribute to it. If you think you have, go see your doctor and they can give you a test. there are also tests online which you can take.

You go to a doctor and they test you for it. They make you do exercises at the computer to daignose you, so no needles or horrible things. Nothing to be scared of.
