We have two kittens, born about three weeks ago. They were healthy and frisky. But just this morning, there seemed to be a problem with one of them. She won't eat or nurse, she is lethargic and floppy, and at one point she was mewing her head off. Now she's just sleeping on the pillow face down. You'd think she was dead except for her steady breathing.
What is wrong with her?

If she has been lethargic for some time she probably needs to see the vet. Could be anything, worms, an obstruction. Sometimes kittens who don't have their mothers' to take care of them have trouble with bowel movements. Their mother will actually help them go. So maybe she's constipated???

She needs to see a vet! Today! Fleas can cause fatal anemia (blood loss causing death) in an animal this young. You can try a few drops of Karo syrup or honey to rouse her if she's gotten hypoglycemic, but she needs to stay warm and she needs to nurse. Little ones this size don't have much time for intervention when something goes wrong.

The mother may not be producing enough milk to feed both kittens. I encountered that same situation with my cat. She was very young when I found her and she was pregnant. She gave birth to 4 kittens. Two died within about 3 days. Two lived and thrived. But, after about two weeks one kitten began behaving as you describe. I started supplementing him with a bottle and kitten formula from the pet store and he perked right up. But, you will need to make sure that you keep the kitten warm and stroke him like his mother would when bathing him so as to keep his circulation going and give him the will to perk up. Good luck!

She might be sick or may have an infection. If you took her away from her mom then she might be felling some discomfort because she might not know where her mother is and is felling lonley. Tr playing with her alot and giving her company. Try buying a different food for her appeal. I hopes she gets better

awww. defenatly take her to the vet. she could have eaten something poisonous. she could just be an unhealthy kitty. i had one of those too. she lasted for a year and a half then we had to get her put down because she started ahving really bad seizures. i really regret not taking her to the vet. i hope everything goes well with your kitty.

she could be ill with a contagious fever kittens are susceptible to getting. please take kitty to/call vet and get treatment.
even at three weeks kittens are playful and active. fevers tend to drain kitty of all energy as kitty's little body tries to fight off the fever. please do not wait to call/vivsit the vet so kitty does not die and so the other kitten can have treatment hopefully before getting ill--vet will know exactly what to do.

She needs to go to the vet AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Drastic changes in behavior like that means something is seriously wrong.

There is no way anyone could tell without looking at her, so taking her to the vet is your only option if you want to save her, assuming it IS serious which it sound that it is probable that it is.
