I've noticed that with bottled water, the bottle sometimes squishes by itself if I try to save it in the refrigerator. This makes me get grossed out cause I think it went bad......is this why?? LOL....

The problem is that the water doesn't "go bad," but that it can lose aeration. Water that's technically stagnant doesn't always taste good, but it's not spoiled.

Also the change in temperature can affect the pressure inside the bottle, which accounts for the "squishy" feeling. Again, the water is just fine to drink.

What do you mean by squishes? The bottle gets smaller like someone crushed it? If that's the case, that's just contraction caused by cooling. Nothing harmful about it.

Water can't really spoil, but harmful bacteria can grow in it. This is not a problem with bottled water, but it can be a factor if you reuse bottles after drinking from them. The bacteria from your mouth "backwash" into the bottle, and refilling it with fluid gives them a growth medium.

normal physics (ya know, the stuff that bored you in school... ;) ) tells you why.

Water changes volume with temperature and pressure, like all other liquids, solids and gas. As a bottle of water is a closed environment you will notice the change by either a FIZZZZZ when you open the bottle (inside pressure higher than outside), or by noticing a bottle depressed (inside pressure lower than inside). On a glass bottle, you don't see it simply because the material is rigid.

Have you ever taken a flight? if you take a bottle and drink from it during the flight, during landing it will become depressed. that is because the cabin's pressure is lower than air pressure on earth.

And, no, water does not go bad. All it can do is to take the plastic taste if you leave it in the sun.. yuk.

PURE water really doesn't go bad. But as I have never seen water that is absolutely pure, yes water can get stale. A day or so after you open a water bottle, the water can get stale unless you refrigerate it, in which case it could last a little longer.

Water in plastic bottles will flow undesirable, by using fact the chemical compounds interior the plastic will at last leach into the water. i offered a house a number of years in the past and found an previous field of bottled water that replaced into in all possibility around by using fact the previous proprietor had transformed 3 years in the previous. I opened one and smelled it, and it had a terrible stink of the plastic bottle that appeared cloudy. So, I merely threw each and all of the water out and threw the bottles interior the recycle bin.

Bottled water has expiration dates on them. At least most of them, anyway. I think impurities seep back into the water over time. the same impurities that were removed or filtered out. So your back to tap like or unproccessed water.

I don't think water gets bad unless contaminated. As long as it is securely covered and intact, nothing can go wrong with your bottled water.

If air gets to it, then it can become stagnant. But it would have to sit in some really shitty conditions for a long time. LOL
