My cat cries and cries at our bedroom door in the mornings when we have the door closed still. He used to pee on the bed so he's not allowed in there anymore. I was just wondering if they can sense that we are in there or if he cries even when we're not in there. Any explanation behind that?

animals have a stronger sense of smell than humans, and yes, he can probably smell you behind the door. also, cats learn, he knows what the room is, and that you are there. he probably does not cry to get in the room when you are not there, air circulates under doors, and he knows your smell.

Animals have a good sense of time. It's weird. I had this dog from the time I was 3 until I was 17. About 10 minutes before my school bus brought me home everyday she would whine to get out of the house and she would run down to the bus stop to meet me. It could be that your cat knows your routine and knows when you are going to open the door.

Yes, they can still smell you through the door. I've closed mine out of the bedroom a few times when they started to get too rambunctious- and when I opened the door after I was actually ready to wake up, they would still be sitting there looking up at me sad-eyed until I pet them.

Cats have always had a keen sense of smell they have really good vision but thier smell is totally awesome. They can smell your scent through the door and they also have really excellent hearing too.

Cats are very territorial and are acutely aware of their surroundings. Not only does he know you are in there, he knows what time to expect you to come out. And probably starts meowing about 10 minutes before. Mine always has her paws under the door when I wake up.

You kitty knows your in there He has very acute hearing and very sensitive sense of smell. He is also not stupid and if he sees you go in he will remember. Cats are extremely smart that's why you don't see them fetching sticks and running around race tracks.

Cats are smart. They know where you usually are, so they go there. My cat always rushes to my room every morning, because she knows that's where her water is. Your cat probably wants something from you in the morning, if nothing else then to let you know he's there.

Not through doors, but I summise that smell can drift under a door, or through the sides, as most doors are not sealed airtight.

For sure he knows you are in there and knows you will respond to his meowing for his breakfast.
