Hey Randy,
First off, mental retardation is not a mental illness. It just means that you learn differently from a lot of people. But all of us have some things we do better than other people and some things we do worse. For example, I bet you are better at sports than I am!
I work with some people with mental retardation and there are a lot of different ways adults with mental retardation can live. For example, some people have an apartment, maybe with a roommate but not always, and they have someone who comes over and helps them with things they need help with, like budgeting, learning to cook, or whatever. Call the Arc of Georgia (below) and ask them about ways you can live as an adult in the community.
As for God healing you, you're not sick. You have a disability. Lots of people do. Me, for instance: if I didn't have glasses, I would be legally blind and couldn't drive. Almost everybody needs some kind of help from equipment or people in their everyday lives -- like, lots of people go to an auto repair shop when their car breaks down instead of fixing it themselves.
God has some important work for you to do, using your gifts, your talents, your personality and even your limitations. When you read the Gospels, Jesus didn't pick the really smart or rich or talented people to be his apostles. He chose fishermen, tax collectors, and other people like that. He chose you too, and if you pray, talk to friends, your pastor or Sunday school teacher, your aunt, and other people, He'll help you know the ways you can serve him.
Check out the website on Joni and Friends. Joni Eareckson Tada broke her neck in a swimming accident when she was a teenager and lost the use of most of her body from the neck down. But now she is a singer, an artist (painting with her mouth,)
a speaker, writer, and helps people with disabilities all over the world. Get on her mailing list. She has great reflections on scripture and people with all kinds of disabilities, and how much God loves you and has great plans for you!
Please e-mail me if you want to and we can talk more about this, ok? God bless you and thanks for asking these questions!
Oh, yeah, and if this is a fake (which I know some people do), if anyone with mental retardation is reading this, you're a LOT smarter than someone who would write a letter like this as a fake.

Why would you want to be healed from this. You have one of the best life situations in America.
I would say that since I know several people with retardation and I also worked at a group home that you are probably set for life. You don't have any requirements or serious responsibilities, you can pretty much do what you want to do, and people like you get to bowl, go to football games, and movies and you don't even have to pay for this. You get better than normal medical care, and never have to cook or clean up after yourselves.
I would say don't worry, enjoy your support staff, since you are sort of like a king and have fun.
PS. I believe this question is a put on because that was an impressive paragraph for a retarded individual.

Since you are able (it would seem) to use a computer and write as well as your message indicates I would think you could get a job if you wanted one.
Retarded people have different degrees of retardation. Also, the rate and extent of development is different in each individual. You probably need to be evaluated for independent living ability.
You or your Aunt should call the mental health organization in your city or state. Ask about possible employment (a means of self-support) and how you can learn to be independent.
As for your wanting God to heal you, while it's true 'all things are possible with God', the spirit in you may have chosen the challenge you face in this incarnation.
Don't fight your condition, but try to find your place in the World. Thank God for the life you have and pray for guidance and the means to be independent.
God bless you in your search. Believe God loves you. Congratulations on your strong freedom pursuit.

Oh. You're serious. Well then...
Just remember that God doesn't hold you responsible for your condition. In fact, in some ways, you are better off than most, because you are not held to the same standard as the rest of us. And upon death, the condition will no longer apply.
Unfortunately, we can't all have what we want. My fondest desires have also been withheld from me. It's just part of the human condition. If you wish, you can try using treatments based in the works of Royal Rife and Don Croft. Try googling those names for some fascinating stories, if you're able. And who knows? Maybe an HHG, Power Wand, or some other psychotronic device can do some good for you.
Best wishes.

Randy, there are people who are going to tell you that you have this or that condition simply because you are very intelligent and they are very intimidated by you. Who, by the way, told you you are mentally retarded? Did you by yourself and in your own words type the above question? Randy, if you did type your question, I can tell you right now that you are above average in intelligence!
I have noticed that when people are intimidated by anyone, especially in the USA, they will attempt to stigmatize a person in an attempt to break down the person's spirit. Do not let people's labels stick to you!
1). In Joshua chapter 1, you are commanded to be strong and courageous,
2). In Deut. 28, you are told that you are blessed, as long as you abide by the words of the Lord,
3). In Jeremiah 29: 11, the Lord tells you HE has plans for you to give you your desired end - ya, just keep believing those things which be not as though they were!
4). In Psalms 32: 8, the Lord promises to guide you,
5). In Psalms 91, you are guaranteed protection,
6). In James 1, you are challenged to ask for wisdom,
7). In John 14, you are consoled
Now, whose report will you believe? You have the power to control what you believe! And about your general health, there is no condition that cannot be cured with proper nutrition, healthy habits and exercise! Also check out this health tips - http://www.geocities.com/ulafrique/healthtips.html
Cheers!

Just to let you know, Retard means "to be held back". Its a common mental illness that is a large part of the worlds percentage. Its also a sign for bullies to pick on just because your different. If you strive to achieve, you dont need to be healed in the end. Yes it can be a source of hurt, but Life isnt supposed to be easy. Everybody has their illnesses.

People say, just have faith, they say he will heal you.. he is capable of all things. I have mental illness.. bi-polar, and I have yet to be fully healed of it again. I've had it for a long, long time, and it seems like the Lord will only heal me if I go through hell to get there. (That is what I think anyways), just a guess on my part. So who knows.. I think in a lot of ways, this life is supposed to suck.. it's not supposed to be all happy, and warm and well, and just a bed of roses. We die, we go through horrors, torture, and trials.. we go through pain, judement.. it's not all happy, everything is alright for anyone in my opinion.. there is no hope for people who God won't heal, period, and although this is a very very hard concept for me to even begin to accept, God is not going to heal alot of people in this life, because he has a purpose for them. It suck, it's horrible, but that's what he wants I guess, and there is not a damn thing we can do about it period. i'm sorry to break this to you, and i'm sorry to have this come to you. it's not happy news, and it's not great news, in fact it's horrible news. People keep say have faith, have faith.. your faith will make you well!! all of that. Well, it will not if the Lord will not heal you, so get over, and move on. If it sucks, then just remind yourself as much as you can that God is good, and he's not an evil huge monster, or a horrible father, or careless, or Satan for not healing you. Trust me, easier said than done when you suffer as much as i do on a daily bases from this horrible ****.. It's ******* horrible... I can't say enough about that.. it's retarded horrible. I can't do things i want to do, like music, hang out with friends, do anything in public, even talk with people, because it is such a burdon on my mind.. I hate it, and feel as if I hate God, and don't love him, but it is what it is.. also, one day we will die.. we will die, it could be in a car crash, it could be an airplane crash, it could be poisioning, it could be natural causes.. something that causes alot of pain, so prepare yourself now for the future. This life blows *** in so many regards, that its not even funny.. No one will tell you this outright, and will sugarcoat it, but I won't, because it's the truth. LIfe can be a HUGE *****, and then you die. Sorry to let you down brother.
