I don't know what state you're in but in New York you can to New York State Inmate Look Up. It wouldn't hurt to try replacing New York with whatever state your looking for and see if you can find the information that way.

Justice Web is one site or check out the Agency that is holding the inmate. Some Agencies have the Inmates listed with the charges

Well all you have to do is go to the Department of Justice website, look to the left near the bottom you will should see (Inmate Locator). If that don't work then search for the correction facility of the state that they are in. Like for MD they have there own site. That is how I found my best friend information so that I could right him a letter.
