Cirrhosis is scarring on the liver, which is usaully the result of something causing damage over a long period of time.

The commonest causes are long term infections with hepatitis C and hepatitis B, or regular excessive alcohol consumption.

Cirrhosis of the liver results from damage. A common cause is consumption of alcohol, but it can be caused by ingestion of other drugs and also caused by disease.

Most often from illegal drugs or alcohol. There are some meds that doctors give people that can damage the liver. I take a seizure medication that can cause damage so they check me about every three months. Most people just assume it is from alcohol,drugs or an illness from taking these
