It's bad for your skin to lay out in the sun.
What's wrong with your natural color?
Can anyone explain this behavior?

People are obsessed with skin color. Avoiding the race aspect, let me give you a little history. Let's go back in time, where if you were rich you didn't work, and stayed indoors. If you were poor, you had to work outside, working the fields and fixing roofing and such. Those who were rich were pale and those who were poor were tan. So people tried to lighten their skin and rid themselves of freckles and always wore big floppy hats when they went outside.

Fast-forward to now. If you're rich, you don't have to work, so you can spend time outside tanning. But most jobs are done indoors, doing paperwork or doing things on the computers. So now the situation has been reversed--by getting tan, you're sending a message to people "hey, I don't have to work. I'm rich. Have babies with me."

Tanning is a natural defense against the sun. People with high pigments (melanonin) like people of African decent, naturally have protection against the sun.

Evolution indicates that white people were in darker and colder climates, which is why they are white. In the sun, we tan and darken in order to protect against UV rays. People with darker skin tones do that too, but not to the same extent.

White people tan because it makes them look healthier. A tan is an indication that you are out and about outside (luxury to some) and not inside in an office or whatever else people do. It is also en vogue because it has a slimming element. White people also have tried to gain some of the good aspects other races have that they lack...such as big boobs and big booties and buying hair extentions or anything like that. It explains the plastic surgery phenomina. Darker skin is also in that category.

In the reverse, other races try to be more white, aka pailer skin (bleaching), straightening the hair, boob reductions, cutting off the hair.

It is all wrather silly...but it is a true fact in society.

Lots of people have the belief that a tan makes you look healthy
The tan is actually the skins protection against the sun.
Its not healthy anymore as the rays are very dangerous to us
Now people can add colour to their skin by adding bronzers which is supposedly safer.

Some people find that they are too white and want more coloring
I think its all a matter of habit what people get used too.
Fake and bake is what many people do now.
I for one don't. but thats a personal preferance.
