I dont think the country has been run down with intention until the blair govt.Although successive labour govts ,even the well intentioned Attlee govt just cant grasp that a country runs on its economy.
Tony blair has been the most concerned about his image and legacy rather than the wlefare of the country.
We certainly are on a downward spiral ,only the strongest , most honest leader can save us now.Someone who sees things in black and white and makes it happen.We need to get blair out quickly before he does anymore damage.

Improve the UK education system , remove the welfare state , and hand democracy back to local people. Bring tax levels down to a standard flat rate tax of 10p. Insist upon a limited term for every politician of 5 yers to no matter what appointment. Hold geneeral ellections via PR every 4 years.
