A med-alert necklace or bracelet. Other than that, spend some time with her, or make a photo album from her old photos.
Just have fun with her.

A gift certificate to a rest home? Kidding, a little humor this morning.
My grandmother is 73. One of the things she got last year she really enjoyed was a personal cd player, and some books on tape. It was easier for her than reading, her eyes are not too god anymore.
My grandmother really enjoys having her hair done, and being pampered, what women doesnt? Maybe a beauty day out, a salon day, a gift certificate of that nature. Jewejlry is always nice too.
Shes your mom, whatever you choose she's likley to love it.

in accordance to historical video photos from some time past in 1980 as quickly as I had my first Christmas (i became into almost one million), my mom have been given me a jack-in-the-field. curiously I enjoyed it! i'm fairly specific they nonetheless make issues like that, even in this extreme-tech international. in actuality, each and every time i pass see my little cousins I consistently make specific to hold them a toy I bear in mind fidgeting with while i became right into a newborn, and you recognize what? 9 tiimes out of 10 they love my present greater helpful than the frilly digital video games and stuff the human beings carry them. Small youngsters like issues they are in a position to play with dazzling away that require no setup. So, best for you getting her that V-Smile thingy, yet additionally get her a calming pull-toy and doubtless slightly gentle doll or some thing too.

I really like your answer from 'Sweetie_b', perhaps I could venture a suggestion for a little change?
Instead of a CD, how about getting hold of all her old photos without her knowing and having them transferred onto a DVD, I know old folk like to reminisce and flick through reams of old snaps, I know this because I am an 'old folk' I had hundreds of old photos really of no interest to any one apart from myself, and it was a hassle opening all the albums , now I just keep flicking and every thing is there in full view. (Still of no interest to anyone else but I am happy flicking)

Best idea I ever had was to ask my mother-in-law what she wanted. It turned out to be a nest of tables - you know the kind, the one fits in under the other? She'd always wanted a set and never wanted to spend the money on herself. She was overjoyed. So try asking.

well at that age I am sure a 73 year old mom has some back pains and crap due to growing older so I think that best thing to get her is a day at a massage place where she can get her back rubbed and a facial. She would love it!

I can only suggest what I did for my mom and grandma. I put together pictures that I took and compiled them into a calendar, which included everyone in the family's birthdates and anniversaries. I did it through shutterfly.com and it turned out awesome!!
