I have been plagued with this off and on for the last 20 years I finally found a doctor to help me.
Long story short: you buy a an OVER-THE DOOR CERVICAL TRACTION KIT, at CVS , Walmart etc. the kit contains a big plastic bag, a rope, a harness for your chin and head, and a pulley that rests on top of a door you use it two-three times a day, 15 minutes per session, Only 15 minutes NOT any longer
You fill the bag with water , it goes by your weight , I weigh 125 lbs so I fill the bag with 3 lbs of water my husband also has this problem he weighs 200 lbs so he uses 5 lbs of water pounds of water (there's a red line that indicates that amount as well as lesser volumes), put the harness under your chin and skull, sit down in a chair, and let the weight — via the rope and pulley — exert a steady pull upward under your head.
That's it.
Nothing will happen until about the fourth day, when you will suddenly noticed that the pain seemed less intense ..
With each subsequent session it will get better.
After another week or so the pain and ache will be gone ..
This is how it workes:
This device
Stretches the spine just enough to open up the tight space and just the tiniest amount was enough to relieve the pressure off the nerve and allowed healing. best of luck to you, and I swear by this device...it worked miracles for us...

See a chiropractor! I had carpul tunnel and the neurologist said surgery was my only option. Saw a chiropractor for a '2nd opinion', she did her own exrays and looked at the other docs recomendations, then suggested for me to have 6 months of adjustments with her, that surgery is considered the last option. Under her care, my hands got better, to the point that there are no signs of carpul tunnel at all anymore! It also didn't take 6 months, but was only a couple of months later and my hands were fine!
Sounds to me like you need to have your neck adjusted by a chiropractor, who will adjust it again each week for awhile, then each 2 weeks, then each 3 weeks, etc. until your neck has improved with no numbness on your left, and full strength has returned.
It amazes me how everything is attached to our neck and spine. The neck and shoulders affect us down to our fingertips. All the symptoms you've described is directly related to the pinched nerve in your neck. Honestly, seeing the chiropractor for this will be your best solution!!
Although all my symptoms have been gone for years, I continue to go in for adjustments for maintenance every couple of months. My chiro calls it my '100,000 mile check-up'.. lol

Hello,
Though sciatica is a common problem, it is really surprising that often it is hard to tell why a person suffers from this ailment. This is why it is often referred to as a back pain complex. Even experienced doctors find it difficult to pinpoint a cause. Number of medical conditions lead to sciatica such as stress and trauma at any point on spinal cord or lower back. This is understandable but when a person feels this pain and the underlying causes are as general as obesity or pregnancy, it presents a vague picture to the doctor. There can be many more underlying causes that require supervision and treatment at the right time.

It could either be carpal tunnel or arthritis. You did not mention your age. I had the same thing because of working consistently on a computer. Went to the Dr.; they x-rayed. Mine was arthritis. Carpal tunnel symptoms include frequent burning, tingling, or itching numbness in the palm of the hand and the fingers, especially the thumb and the index and middle fingers. Mine was also my left hand. I am left-handed, but a right-handed mouse clicker, so I was really confused. Go see your Dr. You may need your workstation reconfigured for ergonomic purposes. Good luck!

Ask your doctor to order physical therapy for your cervical spine. If that doesn't help you can get the three cortisone injections in your neck and if that doesn't help the only other thing is surgery. It sound like you might have protruding discs in your neck.
