Interesting question....
In the US, generally speaking when someone makes an offer of food or drink they mean it. If you say no, then you will get nothing.
In other cultures it varies...some cultures expect you to say no and will offer it multiple times, after the third request it is ok to say yes. Some cultures would be insulted if you say NO even if they have little to begin with...
I would say if you are traveling, do some research on local customs. But in the US, I think you would be safe to accept or decline depending on if you were hungry or thirsty!!
Bon apetit!!

I'd say generally, when in a persons home, if people offer something, it is because they are being a good host or hostess and want to offer you something... but, I always carry a few extra bucks for when I'm out with friends, because usually it is a dutch (meaning you pay for yourself) situation. (unless its a date, or a dinner as an invited guest.)
Was your brother older than you? it could be that your parents told him to not spend your aunts money while in the park... Disney can be extremely expensive, and thus the reason for him being defensive. just a thought.

I am the same way. I get really uneasy and normally say I dont want anything unless I am comfortable with whose ever house im at. But I beleive that if someone offers me something I should be able to answer truthfully if i really want something to eat or drink. I guess if they are offering and I want whatever they are offereing, it is okay to accept.

Don't say No unless you mean it. If someone offers you something, try and make sure that there's enough for the other person too and if there is, then enjoy! If it's not possible to ensure that, then try to ask for just a little. After all, something is better than nothing!

I would take something to drink if I was thirsty, but turn down anything other than something like a cookie if I was hungry. What may be someone's delicacy may be gross to you. Best of luck

It depends, when I visit people like my dad and he offers me food, I turn it down, or I just have a very small amount. He doesn't have much to spare, so I let him eat the most. usually, unless I'm staying for a couple days or just spending the night, I'll eat, but if its just for a day, nah, not really.

as for food accept it only it you know the person to some level, or if you are really hungry.
use common sense and answer depending on the situation

It's fine to be honest and say yes. After all the host IS prepared to offer you drinks, and it's no big deal to them. So go ahead and say "yes please."

going either ends will be wrong. take but in measured value, for eg: if you're taken out to eat, eat with measure. not too much or less either...
