What did the doctor say?

This does sound like thrush or candida, which are fungal infections. You might have a compromised immune system as well. See a doctor. You can take Nystatin, which you swish and spit to cure this infection. Avoid mouthwashes with alcohol. Alcohol upsets the natural balance in your mouth. Prevention and Biotene are good mouthwashes to use. Brush and floss faithfully. Eat yogurt with active cultures or drink kefir. Hold these in the mouth for a bit before swallowing. You can also take probiotic supplements which are availabe in the refrigerated sections of health food stores.

Still, you should see a doctor because a condition that lasts for that length of time is not normal and may indicate another underlying condition.

A white coating on your tongue is usually a pretty good indication of a candida build up. Everyone has candida in their systems, but sometimes we let it fly out of control. Candida is the flora (bacteria) in your body. We need good bacteria to be healthy. Bad bacteria can become overpowering when we do not get proper nutrition (fibre is SO important to keeping good bacteria on top). Too much refined sugar and starchy, yeasty foods feed the bad bacteria. Antibiotics can cause your bacteria counts to get crazy as it kills all bacteria - good and bad. If we are still not feeling great after our antibiotics and don't replace the good flora, we will get a candida build up. This can cause fatigue, infections (ears, throat, yeast infections... etc), and a whole host of other ailments. So, bottom line... get yourself a GOOD QUALITY acidopholis from a health store and eat your fibre! ...and try to stay away from all of that Christmas baking (sorry!!!). Good luck!

This can be caused, by not brushing your teeth well and tongue!, do you use mouthwash? That might get rid of it, also can be caused by bad diet, and smoking, if you do smoke QUIT!
