Acrobat reader is used to open PDF files. PDF stands for portable Document Format. PDF is famous because it preserves the document format and its platform (Operating System Independent). A guy with Linux , a girl with windows and a old man with Mac software can easily open PDF files with Adobe Acrobat Reader. Thats why Acrobat Reader is so popular.

Acrobat ensures that the document you are sending or reading cannot be (or is not) pilfered by any third party. It's obviously a security and copyright protection measure for among those who'd like to protect original work. An Acrobat Reader is provided free, but you need to buy a retail copy for you to make Acrobat files or convert your Word files. Happy Acrobating! ;-)

It's used to read PDF documents. But I'd recommend using Foxit Reader instead (it's much faster).

It is a software that reads the document, provided the document is made in .pdf files, whether you have the application that created it or not.
