I was raised Catholic but discontinued going to mass when I was about 10 years old. For many years I had a problem with the defining God and believed that he would cause things to happen in my life because of my behaviour. Since I have matured I now break him/her down to G.O.D. which stands for Good Orderly Direction. Providing I live my live to the best I can and try to help my fellow man then I believe I am doing what is right. As for attending church I choose not to but do know many people who do and are quite happy doing so, so more power to them. I do still enjoy attending midnight mass and hope to attend this year. Not so much for the religious aspect of the mass but for the beauty and tranquility that I feel while there.

I don't believe it is wrong to not attend church. My relationship with God is always present and He is with me where ever I go. I don't need to enter into a special building to talk to or feel God....in fact I get more out of being alone in my car talking to Him than I ever did going to church.

I don't know if I would come up with an excuse not to go on Christmas though if it meant a lot to my family. Christmas is about thinking of others.

Why go to church? That's where most people get exposed to religious lies in the first place. Consider: where did you first learn about a loving God who tortures people in a burning hell forever? Where did you first learn that God is composed of 3 co-equal persons, even though there is NOT ONE Bible verse that says that? Where was the first place you learned that the human soul is immortal, even though the Bible says the soul CAN die? Ez. 18:4

Does your church tell you the truth about the origins of Christmas and Easter? Are you learning that they are pagan and that true Christians have nothing to do with false religion? No, I suppose not.

No it's not wrong to go the church but, I don't follow those beliefs so why go? Christmas has become more of a cultural practice in the United States, My family and I celebrated it in secular way without references to Christ. Instead it has become a reason for the family to get together.

Christmas is not the birthday of the Lord Jesus Christ, so why celebrate something g that is false???

In the book of revelation, only two of the 7 churches in Asia minor are with God, Jesus warns in the Book of Mathew, especially in chapter 24, not to be a hypocrite, claiming you are with God but do not walk his footsteps... He claims that in the future before Tribulations, that many will claim to be with him and are not so when they go running up proclaiming they are a reborn virgin, and have no oil in their lamp for they had to go and buy it, he will hear them not, Mathew chapter 25, Jesus states that he hates hypocrites...

The body is the temple, we are always in church 24 hours a day, that is what those with their eyes closed cannot see, and those with their ears closed they cannot hear...

i go to church because i want to not because i have to. i love my church. it is small and everyone knows every one else and beleive me no body there is perfect. they don't judge others either. i go there to feel encouraged and loved. a good example to one time about a year ago a member of our church admitted doing something wrong. we spent almost 45 minutes with everyone in the church telling him how loved he was and that we don't judge him for what he did. by the end of the service he and his wife and family along with the rest of the church were hugging each other. it was great.

Why can't I fellowship with other christian's and forget church. There is no command to go to church, just not yo forsake the assemble of yourselves together.. That I don't do. What I do is forsake the backbiting and politics that are organized religion... Jim

Again (all) religion has been referred to as Christian. The attendance is a manmade construct the same as the rest of its dogma and creeds. Why make an excuse for something not of significance to the seeker?

I don't follow false prophets. One group says childhood baptism, another says adult baptism. One group says speak in tongues another says that is possession of a demon. One group says there is no place has hell, another says there is. One groups says don't sin another says confess your sins, which means its ok to sin.

You put money in the plate you are FINANCING that point of view and telling GOD you subscribe to it.

God has a book of life and if you follow the WRONG person or GROUP your name may not be in that book.

I follow GOD not man.

If you want to follow man that is your choice. Free will.

If it gets you into trouble with God, don't make the same mistake Adam did and blame it on Eve. Don't make the same mistake Eve did and blame it on the snake. You made your own mind up and furthermore from this questions you are ADVOCATING it, hence you are trying to get others to eat the apple.

If I have problems with my views and God, I'll stand there and take like a man. I say, it's my goof. I made the choices.

No, it is not wrong, very necessary for some people. Why would I need an excuse not to go on Christmas?
